I have been waiting for a month for this deal. So, I wanted to purchase a Thinkpad W520 from Lenovo during the Memorial Day Sale which many people on this forum continued to talk about "wait for Memorial Day". It was 15% discount the past few years. What I realized was that the coupon was only 5% when I used VISA cardholders program today? What is the point of waiting for the "Memorial Day Sale" if the "good" deal isn't there?

If you can sign up for the newsletter on the Lenovo front page, you should be able to get a code for 10-15% off.. Hopefully you can use that in conjunction with the memorial day sale.
-
How much of a good deal are trying to get? X220 buyers got 25% off when they were launched, and I know W520 owners that got 30%+ when they were released.
-
Yeah I am having the same frustration. On top of that, they RAISED the base price of the X220 so the price today is actually MORE than the price yesterday. So much for that "sale". :-/

Lenovo is making record profits. -
I noticed that the Memorial day coupon is the same as the regular coupon that has been offered the last week or two, LOL.

The only issue with what you state is that you can use up to only 1 coupon at a time.
Read the official notice on eCoupons and Lenovo purchases here. -
Ah... I'm not in US, so wasn't sure if the memorial day sale comes off automatically from the base price, or if requires a code.

You should order by phone and bring that up. Maybe you can haggle them down a bit, or at least get them to throw in a few free upgrades to get.
-
Yeah I tried that and no dice. To make things worse, I THOUGHT I'd saved my quote so that I could use that price again, but apparently I did it wrong and they won't honor it.
Whatever, I'm over it. I'll wait until Tuesday and see what the next "sale" looks like. -
Right, that's what I've been doing. I'm looking at a t420 but I have a few weeks to buy it SO i've been generating quotes from every sale and I figure I can just use the best one. Their sales basically only change name anyhow. Dad's and grads, memorial day, the troops, etc.

I thought the deal that ended last night was the best I've seen for the T420 in the last month or two.
The specs were:
i5 2410M
4GB RAM
500GB 7200RPM HDD
HD + screen (1600x900)
After coupon was $685 and after taxes was $742.
But then again the 4GB RAM upgrade is still there just that now you can only get 320GB 7200RPM HDD instead of the 500GB.
After the memorial day coupon it comes to the same price.
Seems like this deal is going to last all summer. Unless they take this deal away from barnes and nobles after memorial day and the price jacks up to the regular $899?
I was afraid Lenovo will jack up the prices to the old deals so I jumped in on the deal right away, LOL.
I upgraded the wireless card to the 6205 2X2AGN ($17) so my total came out to $759.
For a T420 with the high res screen, I thought $759 was a great deal! -

Yeah, I don't care as much anymore. Do you know about the Lenovo 21 day Price Protection Plan, stevek216? You buy your computer, within 21 days, you find a better deal and you get a refund from Lenovo. -
It says 10% when I go here. -
If you use one of the deal sites, it only gives you 5% on the coupon.
-
It seems there is no such deal to be had on the new X1.vinuneuro said: ↑How much of a good deal are trying to get? X220 buyers got 25% off when they were launched, and I know W520 owners that got 30%+ when they were released.Click to expand...
