I'm a total newbie when it comes to computers, and I bought the Lenovo 3000 N100 on the advise of an uncle in the tech business. However, I've had the laptop for about 2 years now and just after it's warranty expired it decides to quit on me. I tried Rescue and Recovery 4, but it seemed to wipe out my entire computer...operating system and all. I don't have the disks that came with the computer anymore and am at a loss at what I should do?

Should I call Lenovo for a operating system recovery disk, despite being out of warranty; how much would this service cost me?

Why not ask your uncle if he's got a disc you can borrow? The recovery discs usually cost about $45, but that's for ThinkPads. I don't know if the Lenovo branded notebooks are the same. You might want to try a Linux discs just to see if it works.
