Just bought one from their website about 5 days. The CD/DVD drive didn't work properly. I loaded a disc( tried many different discs), right click mouse to open the disc, it said "Insert the disc". I think the CD/DVD drive is broken.
My question is, how come I can fix that problem. If I want to contact Lenovo to replace the CD/DVD drive, how come I can contact them. They only showed the email on their website, no phone number.

    Thanks

    which country are you in???

You said Lenovo outlet laptop then you said you bought it from their website, it is confusing to say the least.

You should boot into your Rescue and Recovery console by pressing the blue thinkvantage button, and then run a hardware diagnostic with your disc drive.

I have to pay shipping fee to send the laptop back for them to fix(replace). They shipped the defective item for me. Never get this problem with Dell.
Lenovo is the worst support. I'm not happy with Lenovo. Never buy it again.

I've never heard of lenovo making you pay for shipping with regards to warranty support or defects.

The optical drive should be a FRU. If you look it up online, and give it to them, they should be able to ship it to you , and you ship the old drive back to them with a prepaid label in the original box.

In some countries you do have to send it back on your own expense or take it to your depot by yourself. He obviously went for the cheapest warranty option.... Dell has different warranty support level too in different countries. But without saying which countries he is in, it is hard to say which warranty option is available.

    What laptop did you get?
Does it have the modular bay?
Can they just send you one and you can replace it yourself?

    I bought G530 from http://outlet.lenovo.com/laptops.html
I dont buy any warranty. But all laptops have 1 year warranty included. For Dell, they will send me another optical drive with the label so I can send the bad one back. But Lenovo....!!!!
Of course, I'm from USA so I can buy from that website.

Can you give me a link. Tried to contact 1-877-4Lenovo, they told me to send the whole laptop back for them to fix. I have to pay the shipping cost :( . Thanks

This product has a one year limited warranty and is entitled to EZServ/Depot service.

you have the G530 machine and not a thinkpad, so it has an entirely different rule regarding what is CRU for your laptop. This is also true of Dell various laptop ranges.
