I am running a Lenovo SL500 w/ windows xp (sp3). Yesterday, having trouble with IE7, I upgraded to IE8. Immediately after the upgrade Lenovo password manager worked fine, but now it just lock up the IE8 session from which I try to open it. Since it works with the OS (i.e., login) I assume this is an issue w/ IE8. Any ideas?

IE8 (and 9) break some web pages. Check if there is a compatibility icon (it looks like a broken page) to the right of the refresh icon on the IE8 address bar. If so, click on it.

John, I just tried that. Same result. Password manger window never opens and IE8 session is hung. Thanks for the suggestion though.
