Hi,
I am new to Lenovo line, so wondering if anyone knows their product update life cycle in the following two categories:
#1: CPU updates - How soon after the intel CPU update do they get incorporated into the current model. For example, when would they Ivy Bridge CPU would be included in the T-series (T420/T520)?
#2: Ports / Design - Whats the update cycle here. Every 6 months, year, 2 years? For example, Apple updates theirs every year.
thanks for your help.

18 months are the usual update cycles.
The major CPU and Ports will be coming in the new T430/T530, etc. -
1.- For the T-series, CPU updates are released as soon as Intel releases new CPUs, although if you order right away you might expect up to a month before you receive it in your hands.
2.- At least in my books, Apple hasn't redesigned their MBP line for several years now (since the introduction of the unibody MBP). Ports and minor changes may happen between every generation, but typically, a major redesign is done about every 3 generations (T41, T42, T43 > T60, T61, Tx00 > Tx10, Tx20 ...). A minor exception was the T410 and T420, because with the 16:10 to 16:9 screen size shift, a redesign was needed to accommodate the change in dimensions. -
There's any hope they will change the ratio for a 16:10 or better, 5:4??

that will depends on the LCD manufactueres

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
I don't believe they ever put 5:4 in laptops, only desktop monitors IIRC.
Point being, only very specialty notebooks are still 4:3/16:10 (Toughbooks, Fujitsu/HP convertible tablets). As it's been stated, I believe Apple will even jump to 16:9 as 16:10 panel manufacturers have all but dried up. -
