I have a Lenovo R60 and it will not let me load a new OS of Windows XP. It will load Windows 7 with no problem. I changed the SATA hard mode to compatablity and it still won't load Windows XP.

    please help.

    thank you

Try making a slipstreamed Windows XP disc containing the Intel SATA drivers for your R60. My tutorial despite being for T420 actually tells you the process of making your own Windows XP disc for your ThinkPad but load these SATA drivers for your R60 instead. Make sure you also download the graphics, wireless/ethernet drivers and System Update separately on a USB stick as well.

Changing SATA operation to IDE and XP won't see the drive or won't install? Are you sure it's not bad media?

I have 2 identical Lenovo R60, I've installed a fresh copy of windows XP on one, take the hard drive out and placed it into the other laptop, and is will not run. I've compared all the setting in the BIOS and they are exactly the same. I don't understand why it will not run Windows XP.
