Hi everyone, I’m new to this forum. You guys got an awesome thing going on here.

I'm thinking about getting my dad a Lenovo R60e for father's day. He is a writer and travels a lot.

Would that be a good choice?

Also should I get a core 2 duo or Celeron M?

He does mostly word processing and web surfing.

    Thanks a lot!

If you love your father, you will get him a laptop with Core 2 Duo.

Word and the web are unlikely to notice a performance difference between the Core 2 Duo and the Celeron. Since Celerons run at full power all the time whether it is needed or not, they can be a bit noisier in my experience. If he travels quite a bit, you might want to go smaller. Something like the HP 6515b may be worth a look. It uses AMD CPUs which for what he is doing is likely more than enough. I would also note the R60 only has a pointing stick. There is no touchpad if that's an issue.
