Ey guys, I know that Apple has a policy in which if the product is in warranty and was not successfully repaired after 3 tries by Apple, the user gets thier machine replaced.

Is there a similar policy for Lenovo warranty? I have had my computer repaired once already and its crapping out again after just 2 months, I am just wondering because if this problem can't be fixed, I really don't want to be stuck with it.

    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

If Lenovo has a policy like that, I'm not aware of it.

What kind of problem are you having?

Overheating problem I am pretty sure. When running intense applications the temperature would hit mid 70s, which isnt too bad, and I would all of a sudden get a blank black screen. The screen wouldn't turn off but would just go blank. Same thing happens when I try to put my notebook in standby mode.

I had a Fujitsu which had a similar problem. Instead of just calling and requesting RMA from a phone monkey, talk with someone in customer relations/service. Establish a single point of contact. Once they actually get a sense of your return/repair history, they will be much more likely to help you. Express to them that you cannot afford to be without your computer so often and will literally be forced to buy a new one if they can't fix the issue.

I got a brand new, newer model computer without any fuss.

Keep one thing in mind, even if they do, I imagine it is a refurbished unit they will be replacing your laptop with. My guess (I do not know this for certain) is that goes for Apple and everyone else. Even so there are situations and people who can be contacted who can resolve things, ie. new replacement, regardless of the "rules". You might ask Apple for clarification in writing/e-mail.

do you have the latest firmware/bios/whatever for your laptop? i was getting some problems where whenever i do a standby, the screen would go blank and the laptop would no longer respond (but its not on standby because the fan is still on). i remember seeing a bunch of people saying that updating the bios/firmware did the trick.

No I actually don't because Lenovo is such crap that the software updater would bug up mid-install and I would be forced to do a hard shutdown, which would mess up my notebook so I would be required to do a reformat. I have had to reformat my laptop 3 times to figure out that the software updater is faulty. I will look into doing it as soon as possible manually, but I am very hesitant because of what happened in the past. Thanks for the response nonetheless.

If you complain a little to Apple they replace stuff very pleasely but not sure that if it's their policy. And I don't think lenovo will be nice to you if you complain.
