Im sorry I every got tied up with Lenovo. Im writing this as an FYI to anyone wanting to order.

on the 20th April I ordered an Edge 420s. When i got the confirmation, it said i ordered a T520. This was an issue with the site, confirmed by lenovo tech suport. I contacted sales, and they said it wont matter, and i will get my edge 420s.

2 weeks later, no laptop, but i was still charged for the warranty. In the end i got one knowledgeable sales rep who cancelled the order and replaced it correctly.

The correct laptop arrived in about a week but i was now charged for two warranty's.

The laptop's screen is just awful, not edge glass, but crappy plastic, with a few dead pixels so i wanted to return it. I contacted sales again and they said i should get a mail in 2-3 days with return details.

A week later, nothing. for the next week i called each day and was told i would get a mail that evening, but nothing. I finally got my mail with details on courriers etc.

On contacting the courrier they say they need a confirmation in writing from lenovo of the return, which will take another 3-4 days. thats over 16 days, to return a product!!!

Assuming i get my money back, im done with these guys. they may make some good computers, but if you cannot order from them, or return products whats the point? totally useless.

UK service is terrible too. I don't know where they run it from, but it is run poorly and customer care seems to be the last of their worries...Lenovo service very different from days it was called IBM...

Are they going to charge you the 15% restocking fee? I'm thinking of returning mine because of the marginal screen.

If you plan returning yours you might want a better excuse than the screen is "marginal" if you want to avoid the 15% restocking fee. ;)

How about they advertised the screen as "infinity glass". To me that means that the screen would have a glass screen edge-to-edge. In reality it's only plastic. I would call this false advertising.

If it were me, I'd be happier with the plastic, assuming it was tough and scratch resistant enough. For one, it'd be a heck of a lot lighter than the glass.

Man if I ordered an E420s and got a T520, I'd keep the T520.

Some poor bloke out there woulda gotten a E420s instead of a T520.

In all seriousness, sucks you went through all that hassle. Did Lenovo try to discount your laptop in anyway shape or form?

I don't think it would bother me that much if I felt it enhanced the screen. In this case it seems to make the marginal screen even worse as it doesn't look like one integrated piece, rather a screen with a piece of plastic cover with space in between. It probably would have been better if it were just a plastic screen without the infinity part. It's hard to explain, but it's not what I was expecting. Time will tell how tough and scratch resistant it is.

Did you monitor the order status website to ensure that the order was actually cancelled?

If your CC wasnt charged back when you cancelled your order and your money was not reserved in your bank account since that day then Id suggest to take a look at your bank account status and see whether no money has been reserved for your cancelled order ;)
If theres no money reserved for transaction then you might have free laptop at your hands :D

Update: Lenovo contacted me and told me they sorted out the issue with the courrier and i could call and schedule the pickup to return the laptop.

Called the courrier and again they refused to do the return pickup as they said lenovo needed to contact them in writing!

Called lenovo back and they are working on it....again.....

I started last night. They are willing to pick it up and give me credit towards another Lenovo product. I'm probably going to call again and insist on a full refund as I don't see another Lenovo product I want at the moment. Congrats that you finally got yours returned.
