I just wanted to make a quick post here on the forums, because I've read A LOT of posts saying how it took MONTHS for people to receive their laptops. I order my x61 on 02/13/08 and immediately I was sent an e-mail claiming the estimated ship date was 03/07/08 - bummer... :( BUT! Low and behold, I received an e-mail today (02/14/08) saying my order has been shipped and according to the tracking number it should be here on 02/16/08!

    In summary:

    Ordered x61: 02/13/08
    Will receive: 02/16/08

That means my laptop was ordered, built, and received in 3 DAYS~!!! That's amazing! Almost better than NewEgg!

Anyway, just wanted to throw a positive review on the forums, because I was so discouraged by all the negative shipping experiences that people have had that I almost didn't order from Lenovo... I hope other people have positive experiences as well!

These delays (at least that I heard of) were during the summer when they just launched the new series. People would wait months for their machine to be ready. But I got mine at the end of August in a week.

My CTO 14-in widescreen T61 with Penryn:

Ordered 2/8/08 (in the wee hours of the morning)
    Estimated Ship Date: 2/27/08
Status as of 2/14/08 5:55 PM EST: In Process

Frustrating. Especially because I need the new laptop to replace an ailing Toshiba. My credit card company is supposed to reimburse me for the cost of the Toshiba, but only after I send it to them, and I can't really send it in without having a replacement laptop to use. :(

How fast laptops ship is just based on parts availability. It's not like they want to keep you waiting.

The first thinkpad I bought took more than a month and the second one maybe about 2 weeks to ship.

My order in December took about 20ish days. Wish it shipped sooner but eh, can't complain, T61's camp had better shipping times then X61's but oh well at least you get the machine!

    Order: Dec. 2
    Received: Dec. 22

I ordered mine on Feb. 15th, and it says "In Process". I have an estimated ship date of March 08, so we shall see what happens. Hope mine ships sooner then that, but I'll just have to wait and see. I can't wait to get my new T61 :) This will be my first Thinkpad too :)

Well, it's the 16th and no laptop. >.<

Apparently there were some problems at customs, out of Lenovo's control obviously - new eta is Feb 18th. Still no complaints here. I'll report back on Monday.

Well my story is better than some of these. I ordered an R61 on Feb03 and it originally showed a ship date of Feb21...

But then I received an email that it shipped a week later (Feb10) from Shenzhen, China... through Hong Kong, Incheon, Anchorage, Kentucky and Chicago and arrived Feb14!

So all told: Ordered Feb03 > arrived Feb14
    R61, T8100, 2GB, 14.1"wxga, WinXP

Ya but that's in the US.

Canadian orders seem to get lost, postponed, or delayed (once, twice, three, four times), then ostensibly get stuck in customs, then shipped back out to China but somehow magically appear in the Canadian warehouse, then for some unknown reason incur another form of shipping delay and then finally arrive at the intended customer's destination 3 months after the initial order with missing components or wrong configurations.

so they say.... are you located in Canada or in US, if US that's probably true, but if you're in Canada. Then "custom story" is just bunch of bs from CS... it's same as them saying "I don't know where it is, so, I'll blame it on custom"...

So I actually ended up getting my x61 on Monday, the 18th.

No build problems, all ordered hardware and software installed, no problems so far!

    I LOVE THIS LAPTOP!!
