I am visiting from Europe in New York in the end of this month. I am planning to upgrade my Lenovo X61 to X200.Prices of X200 are much cheaper in US than in Europe. In US Lenovos are mainly sold on web. I am wondering if there is a shop in New York where I can visit and buy reasobale priced Lenovo? Or are you selling your "old" X200..I would be interested to buy.

I believe Lenovo has their only retail shop in the US located in NYC. I've no idea where it is. I'm not from NYC or even close. Perhaps some of closer friends can help out.

In Manhattan, RCS Experience, J&R, and DataVision come immediately to mind.

They all have Lenovo models on display... but whether they have exactly what you are looking for...

You could always try to order before you go and have it delivered to your hotel - that way you have a greater level of choice; but are obviously heavily reliant on the delivery being in a specific time frame.

I've done this before though with no problems; but it depends on how long you are staying for as to whether you want to risk it or not.

That is pretty hard to time and potentially a huge headache. I wouldn't risk it.

Absolutely, it's very difficult to time; but then both times I've done it I was staying in the US for 2 weeks. Considering the price difference over there (not accounting for the exchange rate) it was worth the potential nightmare. Did you know that to buy a Sager NP 8662 from a UK reseller, it would cost me the equivalent of $1997 to buy the same machine that would cost me $1418 in the US? And that's assuming I don't add many extras and forgoing the warranty. For savings of $600 and more heck, it's almost worth the air fare alone.

Of course, after you enter the UK and pay the VAT etc on it the saving is not as much (I'm assuming you'd be good and pay these fees); but it does still work out a fair deal cheaper.

But you are absolutely correct; it's a big risk and potentially a nightmare to fix if it all goes pear shaped.

Why not contact the shops you intend to visit to see if they have what you want; and if not see if they can order it before you arrive? Worth a shot I reckon.
