Does anyone know where I could see a lenovo thinkpad in a shop in the UK (london) as I am pretty intrested in the x220 or t420s but woudl like to see and try out the different touchpad / trackpoint controls first.

    Thanks

Most business class notebooks be it a Dell, ThinkPad or HP are difficult to see in a store, at least that's the way it is in the US. I don't know about the UK. It's been a while since I been there and I definitely wasn't looking at notebooks at the time.

The X220 hasn't been released yet and the T420 is still pretty new. Your best bet is if you know someone with one.

There are no specific Lenovo shops in the UK that I know of but I have seen quite a few Lenovos in the small independant computer shops along Tottenham Court Road. One in particular had a very comprehensive stock of Lenovo business laptops, although I can't remember the name!

I have no idea if they will get stock of brand new models but it might be worth a look if you're in the South East.

Indeed the only ThinkPads I seen in an UK shop is from an independent retailer but it's not usually the latest models. I do remember coming across a discussion of a member here purchasing an X301 from a store in Tottenham Court Road, London (see thread here).

The only official Lenovo store I come across is from Hong Kong but even so there's plenty of electrical retailers over there which stock a range of ThinkPads to try out. It's a shame that they don't have a similar model elsewhere, ThinkPads are just rare over here for some reason.

Other then past experiences and my coworkers t61p, I had to play with a t60 that was used to demo broad band cards at best buy. I was browsing and saw it and since I was in the market I played with it to get a feel for it. Im sure they thought I was wierd as I didnt care about the air card and the pitches for it. I was there to mess with the thinkpad and nothing more. Now with the edge series, and old sl series you might find one at some stores. but an t/w/x series? Youll have to get lucky like I did with a demo host.
