Has anyone ordered the Slim Ac/DC 90w adapter for their T400? The T400 w/ discrete graphics comes with a standard 90w charger but the slim one that is offered in the accessories section prior to check-out says it is the "It is Lenovo's thinnest power adapter yet,so it tucks easily into your carrying case for travel" .. however I am interest in how much it weighs. It may be smaller in size/mass but may actually weigh the same as the standard charger that comes with this laptop. I want to reduce weight in my bag as much as possible and only want to order this if if truly weighs considerable less.
Thoughts?

I'm curious about this as well, though I'm more curious to know how it compares to the 65w one (also in the accessories section).
-
If you have a T400, i dont think it's necessary for you to order the slim one. That's for X200/X200s/X200t/X300/X301 as i think.

There are three chargers for the T400:
- 65w AC charger
- 90w standard AC charger
- Slim 90w AC/DC charger
The T400 w/Integrated graphics comes with a 65w chsrger. The T400 w/ Discrete graphics comes with the standard 90w charger. -
Since it was on sale for like $25 with free shipping through CPP, I picked up a 65W charger for on-the-road use with my T400 (came with 90W). It (and the SATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter II) just showed up today.
90W charger is 5"x2"x1.3" and 11.7oz
65W charger is 4.1"x1.6"x1.1" and 7.8oz
Neither weight counts the AC cord that is identical between the two; it weighs and additional 2.1oz.
Hope that helps. -
Lenovo reps have no clue. I have called a bunch of times for advice on this adapter thing. Some of them have told me that the Slim one weighs "considerable less". One rep said I wouldn't notice a difference in weight in a backpack. The T400 w/ discrete comes with 90w charger - one rep told me that a 65w charger wouldn't be a good idea for this system as a seconday charger and one rep told me 65w would be fine for discrete.
I am so clueless now and I want to place a freakin order now! -
So ... since the T400 w/ discrete comes with 90w charger and the T400 w/ integrated comes with 65w charger ... wouldn't it be ok to charge my T400 w/discrete using a 65w charger if I switched the graphics over to integrated?

Morestuff2 - thanks, that saves me a bunch. Do you know if the 65w will be ok for me?
-
Lew - thanks for the weights.
Lenovo told me the following:
Slim 90w AC/DC charger = 14.4oz (.9lbs)
65w AC charger = 11.2oz (.7lbs)
I THINK THEIR NUMBERS ARE WRONG.
This didn't seem right to me, I would have thought the 65w was a lot lighter than the 90w. Your numbers make more sense. Did you weigh them?
I really appreciate all of your advice!! -
Susie, I'm going to agree with morestuff;
The slim 90w adapter will probably weigh more than the regular one. Unlike any of the other chargers, it has to have the extra circuitry needed to take 12V DC power from a car or airplane power socket in addition to the normal 120/240V AC from your wall. -
Actually, I used a 5lb digital postal scale accurate to +/- 0.1oz. -
I copied you and also ordered the 65w charger. Thanks!

the slim 90w charger is good if you have an X61/s, because some people complained that their 65w adapters made whining noises. Calling lenovo resulted in them being sent a 90w adapter as a replacement (not slim 90w, normal 90w), and the noise disappeared. I do not know if the new ones make this noise, I do not know if the standard T400 adapter makes a noise. I don't think so or else I would have seen the posts by now. So don't worry about it.
I couldn't even choose the 90w slim when I ordered my x200, it wasn't an option. -
I will also confirm that the dadgum slim AC weighs more. I bought it for use with the x300 so the extra weight is especially annoying to me. They should make it abundantly clear on their website.
