Hi guys,
I recently bought a refurbished Thinkpad X220i. Usually PC manufacturers provide bloatware and I want to know if it is OK to install Lenovo software like the System Update and Battery Gauge.
Thank you.

Yes that is fine, if you know what drivers are required for the X220i then you can forgo System Update altogether. Personally I use the Power Manager (Battery Gauge) and Hotkeys while skipping the rest.
If the system comes preinstalled with the manufacturer installation already then check the local drive for a folder called SWTOOLS and copy that over to a USB flash drive since that contains all the drivers and apps you need. That way when you perform a clean installation and need to install the drivers using Device Manager just point it towards the SWTOOLS directory and it will take care of the rest.BinkNR likes this. -
Thank you so much for you advice, I followed through and it helped!
I selected the drivers online and installed Windows 10 as shown here at NBR. The card reader installation was a pain in the butt and in the end managed to do it.
The battery that I received came with 51mWh, decreasing to 48mWh for no reason, then I made a calibration which stayed with the same 48mWh value. Then I flashed a new battery firmware and did a new calibration as said in the readme file, the battery capacity dropped to 46mWh. Do you know what might went wrong? -

It keeps losing... Yesterday had it running on battery the max capacity was 46920mWh, let it go down to 21% with normal use, turned off and let it charge. Today turned on and the max it reports is 46880mWh.
