As a non-native speaker, I'm afraid that I might not able to correctly describe the problem (or just wearing) of the lid.

    I have been using T61p over 2 years. I also have X61.

X61 has a firm lid movement: I mean the lid is firmly fixed when it is open.

However, T61p does not. When T61p's lid is open, the lid is moving at some degrees, not firmly fixed. It's okay, but somewhat annoying and feels like not solid.

Is this the problem of T61p? Otherwise, just aging?

    Thank you,
    JJ

Try tightening the hinges. Directly beneath them on the underside of the laptop are screws that can take a great of play out of the screen. If that does not work then your hinges may be failing.
