    Greetings everyone,

I'm looking for a good HDD (7400 RPM) or an SSD + HDD combo for under $150. The requirements are that I need to have at least 500 GB of storage. 7400 RPM is essential because I am a music producer and DJ which means I'll be moving around files constantly.

    Thanks,
    Box801

I'd say the Momentus XT looks like a good choice.

I'm also doing HDD+SSD with a similar budget.

    I got a Western Digital 640gb hdd (5400 rpm) on sale from newegg for $50. 500gb/5400rpm is always $50. 500gb/7200 is $65.

This will get paired with either the 32gb Corsair Nova ($60 right now and exceptional power consumption) or I'll wait for a 64gb OCZ Vertex 2 or Corsair Force to drop back to $110 (rebate) from the current price $130. ADATA S599 is already $115. You'll want one of these last three drives.

SSD+HDD is having your cake and eating it too.

I haven't yet, but it's on sale at newegg. Be careful though, 32gb isn't much space for most people. My OS+applications is only 20gb so it works for me.

The Corsair Nova would be rather slow for your (but still much faster than a hdd) application compared to Sandforce or Intel based SSD's. I'm probably going to wait for the Intel G3 drives to come out before making a move which should only be a couple months away.

Thanks, I might just settle for the Momentus XT for the time being and maybe upgrade in the future if needed.

    Thanks again for the input,

Wondering how I swap hard drives actually lol. Do I just need to unscrew the scews close to the CD Drive? Its looks like there is a piece of plastic thats covering up the HDD. I'd assume it just comes out in a tray and I swap it out with my new HDD?

    Anyone know? T

One screws and the cover comes right off. You pull then drive and swap the caddy to the new drive. Put it back in. That's it.
