    Hello Lenovo gurus

I in the UK and am currently trying to get hold of a high spec T400 with either a T9400 or P9500 CPU and LED backlit display. We in the UK only seem to be able to get the P8600 models right now, for about £1350. A quick look on ebay turned up some P8400 (yes 8400) models from a US seller for literally half the price of the UK P8600! I built a P9500 machine on the Lenovo US site and that came out at £1000. The ebay seller will ship to the UK and seem to be have good feedback on a lot of Lenovo sales. I've asked if they can get the higher spec versions. Obv will only buy them if through ebay.

    My questions:
Will a US bought Lenovo warranty be valid in the UK?
Can I later upgrade to a 3 year warranty?
Has anyone in the UK bought a new machine from ebay US before? Experiences?
Or - any other options for a UK buyer wanting to get hold of a decent spec T400 for a reasonable price?

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I have found this site to be one of the most informative on the web, hence me asking the question here!

    thanks

    Matthew

IWS is offered by machine type. It either has it or it don't. You cannot upgrade to it. I'd also make sure the warranty is valid in the UK. I would think so, but you don't want to find out it's not after you've bought it.

I'm in the same boat… unfortunately, to my knowledge none of the machine types for T400 with switchable graphics (2764, 2765, 2766, 2767, 2768) currently offers IWS valid in Europe. :(

EDIT: just checked again - they've extented the IWS for 2768! If you manage to find a T400 (machine type 2768), it will have warranty valid in UK.

The IWS warranty page isn't updated regulary (some entries of X300s are still missing), so just call Lenovo and get a written warranty-valid-in-uk/europe-confirmation (reask if the refer you to the IWS page).
