    Hi There,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I will try to make this quick and easy but i will be happy to answer any questions. Please bear in mind that this is my first thinkpad having come from a long line of dissapointments via dell, apple, HP and asus. I am also using standard OS build and standard thinkvantage tools.

Cost: 2300 AUD - 30% off coupon sale at the time.

SPEC: i5-540M, integrated graphics, 2G ram, 350G 540rpm HDD and Qualcomm WWAN card. 6 Cell Battery and think pad Wifi. Win 7 Pro 32 bit. WXGA+ display

Delivery/Packaging contents - Took less than 10 working days to Australia tracking was basically non existent. Had to call to get the con note number. Very spartan packing. Not much to it at all. Notebook, Power supply and a few manuals etc.

Build - Very sturdy, very light. The build feels solid and at no time do i feel like i have to be gentle with it. The keyboard is awesome but unfortunately mine has a patchy i key. There is some flexing in the screen but not enough to concern me. Love the think light!

Performance: My use is mostly browsing, video viewing, music and documents. For that its more than enough performance i do multi task a fair amount and it keeps up just fine.

Display: I have had better screens before, viewing angle is quite tight and demands you view the screen dead on or some white wash is apparent. This doesn't bother me at all but i can see how it can bother some people, definitely not a deal breaker for me based on my usage.

Power Supply/Battery: very small and light, about the same size as an eepc power pack which is quite small as well. Got stock battery and rarely get more than 3 hours from battery life.

WiFi/WWAN - Using qualcomm wwan - a little tricky to find the right cofiguration options but once i dug around, it was a breeze works fine with telstra. WiFi coverage is good and throughput are nothing to complain about at all.

HEAT/Noise: The coolest notebook i have ever owned and fan mostly becomes audible during charge. No complaints here.

    Problems/Complaints:
the i key neeeds to be pressed quite hard - possibly a faulty keyboard.
    battery life shorter than expected.
The black matt fiinsh of the chasis is a dust and dirty finger magnet - very minor complaint this one.
    Battery life with stock battery.
Display could be better for a premium product.

Overall.... Awesome notebook. It is arguably the best notebook i have ever owned overall.

    Hope this helps...

Ask for a new keyboard. You will appreciate one more aspect of the thinkpad: how easy they are to service.

A keyboard is a consumer replaceable unit so they can overnight one to you to replace.
