I'm looking for the best choice for the laptop I am buying. It will be for school work and some light gaming such as, office, multimedia, and some adobe programs.

Some games include, the sims, warcraft 3, starcraft, baldurs gate, morrowind, kotor.

There are my choices. It needs to last for minimum 3 years and needs to cost under $1600

You know, it looks to me as if some other Lenovo model might serve you better than a thinkpad. I say that because of the price of accessories. I've had a thinkpad and the insurance and accessories cost a fortune. Buy the computer and have some money for needed accessories.

You actually may be able to get by with integrated graphics for those games (either Intel x4500, Radeon HD3200, or Nvidia 9400M).

However, if you need it to last 3 years+, then a business class notebook (e.g. ThinkPad, Dell Latitude, HP Elitebook) is probably your best option.

You need to ask yourself, what size screen do you need. How frequently will you be carrying this (i.e. would you be better served by a <4 pound notebook instead of a 6+ pounder), do you require an optical drive frequently (I don't), and what other features do you require.

Without this information, it will be difficult to give you a solid recommendation.

Enhanced ThinkPad T500 15.4" widescreen with discrete graphics.
this one seems like a good choice, get a 3 year warranty also.

these thinkpad are great choice, you get thinkvantage, trackpoint and HDD sensor.

if you travel with your laptop, these are a must have.

the sims, warcraft 3, starcraft, these 3 games are rather old, these will run REAL FAST on the thinkpad. the sims is cpu intensive, not so much on gpu.

the Radeon 3650 is quite fast card. running relatively resolution 1280x800 (WXGA) im guessing it will even run modern game like Call of Duty 4 very well.
