I have priced out a Lenovo T510. I was going to buy another macbook pro 15" but i thought well, i need durability. I'm a network admin that uses this laptop EVERY DAY EVERY HOUR! I loved the battery life of my macbook pro, but i broke the screen and well 900$ was an OUCH.

Currently i have a T42, and to be honest, this thing is durable. I take it everywhere, dropped it a few times and works perfectly.

So now i want another Lenovo T series, probably cheaper to fix too if i break it. I like my HUGE screen resolution because i'm always doing email and rdp and many other things all at once. I configured it with the 6cell, hoping it doesn't stick out. Basic Video card, i do no gaming AT ALL!

Later on i will buy a ssd drive, around x-mas time and use that, it might help out with the battery life ?

    I have configured this,

    Your system summary:
    System components
    Intel Core i5-540M Processor (2.53GHz, 3MB L3, 1066MHz)
Genuine Windows 7 Professional (64 bit)
    Genuine Windows 7 Professional 64 - English
    15.6" HD+ (1600 x 900) 16:9 aspect Anti-Glare display with LED backlight and WWAN antenna
    Intel HD Graphics
    4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
    US English Keyboard
UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad) with Fingerprint Reader
    320GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm
    DVD Recordable, Ultrabay Enhanced
Express Card Slot & 5 in 1 Card Slot
6cell High Capacity Li-Ion Battery TWSL
65W AC Adapter; NA, LA, (2pin)
    Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN
    English US Publication

My main questions are, what do people think about these machines ? do we like them or hate them ? the T410 is nice, but screen real e-state is important to me. Just worried about battery life. I don;t like the 9 cell battery it sticks out and with my luck it would get broken.

Which T42 do you have, if I may ask? I've not seen the T510 or the T410, but I'd ask is an extra 80 pixels on each side worth the weight premium a T510 saddles with over a T410, which is more mobile, if that's if you need some mobility. Perhaps if you bumped up to a FHD LCD, the extra resolution may make the extra weight worth it. I like the nine-cell on my x200 as it makes a nice handle for carry it. One probably wouldn't use the T510 in the same way, but don't think the six-cell sticks out the back.
