    currently testing stability of undervolting...
check my sig for the specs.

    currently stable at:
    06x - 0.950v
    07x - 0.950v
    08x - 0.962v
    09x - 0.962v
    10x - 0.988v
    11x - 1.025v

    *Using RightMark CPU Clock Utility
**Stressed tested with Prime95 one running on each core, iTunes playing, chatting on Aim, downloading with eMule, some Firefox browsing and running Super Pi 1M.
*** weird beep that i couldnt get rid of. beeped about once or twice a day. i'm pretty sure its from the undervolting so i upped the voltage for a few multipliers

Just use a 9 Cell battery and call it good.

Undervolting means lower heat, longer CPU life (which is on the order of years already), longer battery life, less power consumption, less entropy generated, less greenhouse gas emissions, less impotence from the heat, blah blah blah. I like undervolting. Especially when you can say that your board/chip is stable at 75% the original voltage.

    It's a loosing battle my friend ;)

Anyway, not only are there the practical considerations for undervolting (as mentioned above), but, as philibuster alluded to, there is a certain nerd-cred to it to. Also, I always get uneasy working on a machine that is completely stock. I guess itÂ’s just the inner hacker in me trying to get out :p.

i'd rather undervolt to get an extra hr out of my battery, than spend $125.
