I just bought aftermarket memory for my t61. I made sure the memory matched the memory already in it, Pc-5300 667mhz 200 pin DDR2. the only difference was it was made by samsung not lenovo. the laptop now will not reconise the memory. Is there a way to update the bios or something so it does? I spent $100 on this memory and am not happy it isn't working.

Have you teseted the memory? It might be a bad stick or something, it does happen. You might want to try it out on someone elses machine to see if it works, or just send it back for a new stick. Good luck.

Like was said before it is possible that it is a defective module. I would make sure you seated the memory properly in the DIMM slot. Run memtest on the module and see if there are errors. If there are or it simply does not work, I would return the chip citing incompatibility issues. BTW - I am using aftermarket ram in my machine right now with no problems, so its not like Lenovo's works and others don't.

wow, $100 for 4 GB RAM (I supposed). It's too expensive. I'd say you should return it for the best. You can get 4GB somewhere else for like half price.
