    Hi, everybody

I am about to order T61p. I have read that HDD of 7200 speed causes a lot of noise. That makes me in two minds about the choice between speeds of 7200 and 5400.
I would appreciate if somebody having the same Lenovo with 7200 drive shared his experience
    regards

A 250GB 5400rpm drive is faster than 100GB 7200rpm due to higher data density. On top of that, 5400rpm drives generate far less heat and noise.

I have a 7200 RPM drive and its not that noisy. Though the criterion for noise may vary from one person to another.

Check the manufacturers specs for acoustic noise for the hard drive. Most 7200RPM drives are very close in noise to a 5400. I have machines with both and don't notice a difference.

Thanks. This is the idea. But want to know how loud it is. If it is very loud no need for higher speed then.

But in this case I will have to pay more for capacity

The difference is 2.5dB. Is it much?
My desktop's cooler is annoyingly loud

Perhaps little too late for the decision but I want to add for others. In my honest opinion the 100/7200 is too loud. I'm looking for an update right now.

But all this noise thing is very subjective of course.
