    Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know if this laptop is good?

    Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 0578-82U link

My mom needs a new laptop and I would like to get one that is durable and works well for watching movies and playing really simple games (like pop cap games).

Anyways any help would be great!

    Thanks,
    Ed

The Edge series are decent. The build quality is slightly less than some other Thinkpads, but are on par with most consumer laptops. The price on that site is very high. On lenovo's site, its well over a $100 cheaper.

    Thanks for the info.

The prices on this site are in Canadian so it's actually cheaper then the Canadian Lenovo site.. they're quite a bit cheaper in the state but I wouldn't be able to get it there.

    Thanks,
    Ed

I would probably go for an L or SL series rather than edge if only for the improved keyboard. The L412 and 512 look to be very good deals right now, at least in the US.

    Thanks.

I took a look, prices arn't that far off (cheaper actually) then the edge however it is a bigger/heavier laptop.

I think 14" is the biggest i want to go just for convenience.

maybe you should consider a second hand R400.
