Hi, I was thinking of buying a Lenovo Thinkpad R61. If you own of these, can you tell me if you're satisfied with its performance? Would like to hear your thoughts, experiences with this model. I will be using it for school, but I don't need gaming features or business applications. Thanks, Greg

Works like a champs. Build quality is good--same as equivalent T61 by all accounts--and I like it. No second thoughts... -
I purchased my R61 14.1 inch about a month ago for college, and so far im very pleased with my decision. The build quality is great because my machine has no creaks or rattling, the display is bright and pleasing, it has very good performance, its portable enough for me to carry around campus, the touchpad is very responsive, and i really enjoy using the keyboard. My only major complaints is that the battery life is only around 2-3 hours with the extended cell battery depending on which power plan im using. The bottom of my computer also seems to get fairly warm to the touch, even while idoling, so i bought a targus cooling fan to use with my computer. It doesn't get hot enough to burn you, but it does make your skin feel warm. My R61 doesnt get nearly as hot as my friend's hp pavillion notebook though. A minor grip I have is that the audio in jack is in the front of the computer. I really dont like having to plug my computer speakers into the front because the chord always seems to get into the way.

R61 14.1" widescreen is just as good build quality at the T61p. Great notebook. Powerfull T9300 option for CPU and a solid NVIDIA discrete GPU.
My wife loves hers and I like it very much as well.
If it would have came with a more powerful GPU like a ATI4800 GPU I would prefer a 14" notebook over the 15" T61p size. -
how's the battery life on the R61 14.1" with integrated graphics running on 6-cell?
