    I have just downloaded the T420 courseware and it has this for introduction:

    "Lenovo ThinkPad T420 Notebook

    This Lenovo Service and Support training provides removal and replacement videos for the new Lenovo ThinkPad T420 Notebook.

    This workhorse notebook is an update of last year's T410. So first look to the videos for the T410 at www.LenovoServiceTraining.com/ION/T410. Then look here for videos for the 6 parts that are different; Palmrest, Modem, Proximity Adapter, Video Connector, LED Board, and Camera.

    So does that mean one could theoretically put a T420 palmrest (with its updated trackpad) on a T410?

    No. The T420 and T410 have a different mechanical design.
