I put up about 40 pictures of the Yoga, as well as the Yoga with the MacBook Pro Retina (2012), W520 and T430. I took the photos at home, so I don't have other machines to compare against. Might take a bit to load.
There are captions on the bottom right below the photos. You can click the photos for larger versions.

For sound, it's OK. It's louder than the W520 by a touch, but less bass.

Hi Ces, thanks for posting all the photos & videos. Did you get the gray or black model? The photos make the computer a little gray, but that might be my screen.. I thought I had read only the black model would be available to start.
Either way its a nice understated looking machine. -
ces I appreciate the awesome pictures and video demos. You can really see how much more shallow the keys are compared to the other ThinkPads. I really hope however that the keyboard will still have a decent amount of travel. I find that shallow keyboards feel very uncomfortable and inaccurate for speed typing. Perhaps when you make your next video, you can show a few slow key presses so we have an idea of the depth. It was also be nice to see a picture of how the backlit keyboard looks in the dark
After everyone's reviews I am pretty much sold on the ThinkPad Yoga. I don't really need to see more to make a decision. It's only a matter of getting the model I want in the price range that I want. I'd choose this over the Yoga 2 Pro, Surface Pro 2, and Sony Vaio Multi Flip any day. -
Thinkpad yoga or sony vaio flip 13
Hi
I have a sony vaio flip 13 on order and ready for pick-up at local TNT center
it is the max version with core!7 with stylus and 512GB SSD
BUT
All the vaio FLIP Fan issues + better expected durability of thinkpad (eg. godzilla glass) makes me look at the thinkpad yoga (I also have kids 2+4 years)
SO:
1. Display Thinkpad yoga vs vaio flip 13
Can anyone tell me how the to displays preform compaired to each other
- the color of the yoga pro 2 did not come with great reviews and the Flip display got good reviews here but less good elsewhere
2. advice what to chose vaio flip 13 or thinkpad yoga?
The price for thinkpad yoga core!7 with pen and 256GB SSD and the sony vaio flip 13 will be the same for me in Denmark (I pre-ordered the Flip 6 weeks ago) -
I think the Yoga only comes in the new Thinkpad Grey, which is a bit lighter than the old Thinkpads. T440 and X240 also have the new grey colour.
Here's a video with the key travel T430 vs Yoga. Sorry for the dim lighting, I just realized I don't own any lamps. I might redo it in the daylight tomorrow.

Here is a screen (between the hinges) and keyboard flex video. Sorry for the beeping, I was pressing 3-keys at once.

Reminds my of my old Asus Eee. -
I would play with a mouse if given the option, but again, it's definitely playable.

Can anyone with a digitizer version confirm or deny the eraser top of the included stylus?
-
How can I delete my post.. :-??
-
Thank you ces5 for your kind pictures and videos.
Can you tell me how is the TP Yoga's key travel compared with the TP X240's. If you tried both.
Do they feel similar?
Thank You(And sorry about poor English)

This is first time i have digitizer. There is nothing special about the top, but there is a button on a pen that acts as a right click button. -
somebody please test the digitizer accuracy finally

I'm happy to report that it worked with no problems with 2560x1440 monitor outputing max resolution using mini-hdmi to hdmi 1.4 cable.

Can someone sell me on the digitizer? I want to get a TPY with one, but part of me is just amazed by the novelty of it (as I've never used one). I can see using it when in tablet mode, but are there any benefits to using it when in laptop mode? I will be using onenote to take notes with the computer, but can't I just use a mouse instead to accomplish it similarly when I need to take down more than simple text?

As far as I can tell there is no way to order the TPY in the US with a digitizer as of right now. It seems there has been a variety of resellers who have received a shipment of 20CD0033US ( i7 4500u, 256gb ssd, FHD). Amazon, newegg and Fry's list them as in stock. Has anyone come across a TPY with a digitizer in the US?
Also in response to Eljer's question, I have to say touching the screen is ok for gross movements like swiping etc. but can't match the precision of a wacom pen if you want to take notes worth reading later or if you want to touch some photos up in lightroom or phtoshop. It's marvelous for that. It also seems to be less intrusive (if slightly nerdier) in meetings and classrooms. -
Also, does anyone have any decent battery stats yet? -
What's the difference in screen quality if you opt out of the digitizer screen. I have a Surface Pro who's pen I never use and a Thinkpad X230 Tablet who's pen I also never use. I'm thinking now that it's cost wise for me to not get the wacom screen but I'm concerned about differences in quality. Am I right to be concerned?
-
Can anyone review the screen with digitizer
- colors
- viewing angle
- wacthing films
- how is it compaired to other displays eg. Sony vaio duo or Mac book Retina -
It seems like the official US Lenovo site is allowing questions to be asked. Ask away people.

UK residents, what website (price watcher) do you use for find cheapest Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga?
Tried to order one from Dabs but couldnt without my landmine phone. Neither Morecomputers has i7 version in stock. -
-Digitally signing documents
-Taking notes that require images that can't be easily typed
-Highlighting and annotating documents/PDF's
-Writing hand written notes to my fiance
-Annotating pictures and such
-More accurate for clicking on certain things like dragging things around, selecting texts, etc. if I don't want to use my finger on the touch screen or use a mouse. Sometimes its faster than using a mouse/trackpad/finger touch
-When doing power point presentations, I could make on the spot illustrations
-Fun apps like fresh paint that uses pressure sensitivity
-When in tablet mode, the digitizer acts as a mouse. You will sometimes find yourself in situations where you need a mouse function like hovering over certain things especially in web browserseljer likes this. -
-Seems less delicate, more rugged and easier to handle
-Better keyboard
-Better trackpad
-Wacom digitizer better compatibility with more programs. Also fits in the digitizer so its easy to take with you everywhere
-I prefer the 360 degree hinge to use the different modes as opposed to the flip form factor of the Vaio. I guess this is a personal choice, but I still think the TP Yoga is more versatile since you can push the screen as far back as you need to. The unlock feature for the Vaio also doesn't seem so appealing to me
-Runs cooler, quieter fan (I heard the vaio flips fan is constantly loud and running)
-Vaio has more sharp corners/edges
-ThinkPad has Onelink option -
Hi Lasse M and santiba,
I'm have the same dilemma. Given the uncertainity over the release of TPY w/ stylys, I might just keep my flip 13a.
Flip's fan noise could be an issue. It has a silent mode which throttles CPU/GPU, but is still good enough for browsing/ note taking.
In silent mode, the fan is mostly off. Even if it runs, it is barely audible and shuts off within a second.
I'm a programmer and when I have to compile large codebase, I' usually alone and I can bear the noise of performance mode.
I'm not sure, but running a TV over hdmi seems to require performance mode (GPU might need to work hard).
I like the bigger screen of flip. It's stylus has 2 buttons - one for erasing and the other for right click.
If TPY has no eraser button or tip, it would be a deal-killer for me.
The stylus of flip is smooth in onenote. I hate the glare (compared to my matte screen of HP elitebook 2740p).
From the review videos, TPY also had enough glare to annoy me.
Flip is lighter and thinner. I also like the bigger touchpad of flip (w.r.t TPY).
In my flip, I deeply miss the stylus dock of TPY.
Sony could have made a small hole in the overhang so that we could tether our stylus.

Awesome! I was hoping it didn't tip the 4 pound mark! I see it's almost half a pound under that, and it's only 4 holding the charger and it!

How would you compare the Thinkpad Yoga to the Thinkpad Helix?
-
-Helix is top heavy so its not as stable or balanced. Because of this imbalance, the keyboard dock of the Helix lifts up and can tip the screen back
-Hinge of Helix is limited and can't bend back all the way
-Helix has a combined heavier weight
-Helix is so compact that it gets a lot hotter
-Smaller screen on the helix makes scaling more of an issue for 1920x1080. 12.5" screen is more ideal for me personally
Though in the end it really depends on your personal use case. Some people really prefer having a detachable/thin tabletlead_org likes this. -
there is rumor that Helix will get a Haswell update.

Here someone described triple monitor setup for T440s:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo/734969-t440s-owner-s-thread-7.html#post9449891
Anybody here knows if a triple monitor setup will/can work definitely with the Yoga (+ One Link Dock) or already tested this? I'm not so sure one can use all VGA, HDMI, Displayport... when docked at the same time, so an image as evidence would be nice!
Another question, is the FHD IPS Display now 300 or 400 nits? I see different values in different shops.
And in any country so far offered with student discount? -
No displayport on Yoga. Australia has student discount.

Ex-Yoga 2 Pro owner here.
Would any of you guys with the digitizer model be willing to post some quick videos of digitizer responsiveness/digitizer performance near the edges of the screen? This is one of the coolest features of the TP Yoga, yet it hardly gets more than a passing mention in any of the hands-on videos currently available.
Also, have any of you guys with the digitizer model tried using an aftermarket Wacom stylus rather than the included one?
Thanks in advance for any information you can provide. -
Is Surface Pen supported by TPY? In other word, does Surface Pen use wacom technology?
-
Yes, Surface pen is wacom.

Will test with onelink dock tomorrowHodeis likes this. -
Few questions for other owners:
- lenovo solution center shows alert for unknown device - any idea what that is and how to get drivers for it?
- what scaling settings do you use (FHD display)? I can see significant sharpness drop on "big (150%)" setting in apps like chrome (desktop/explorer etc look crisp) and "medium (125%) is too small when i'm further away from the screen, e.g. when sitting at the desk.
- in system update there is optional update for lenovo quick control but i get download error every time at the 100% - does that happen to others too? -
Just got the ThinkPad Yoga with FHD this morning. Can I just say, whoa.... the higher PPI makes everything looks so gorgeous, definitely recommended if you are getting the Yoga (not the HD screen is that bad in the first place, but FHD really takes your breath away when compared to the HD LCD.
Also the screen with the Wacom digitiser has a matte protection layer attached to the LCD (like the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch), so there is less reflection in the sunlight and is protected from fingerprint (well unless you have very oily finger).
The 125% scaling is about just right for my taste, the 100% scaling really makes it too small. While the 150% scaling makes lot of the desktop fonts look blurry, obviously windows still need to work on the scaling issue and make it at least on par with Mac OS X but that is out of scope of our discussion here.
Also, SSD makes the Yoga super responsive, no more lagging when you move the laptop around.
Finally, the wacom digitiser pen has problem around the edges, but once you calibrate it then the accuracy around the edge improves by a lot. About the same as the Surface Pro and much improved from my ThinkPad X220t and X230t, especially around the edges.Clerish, soul347, Hodeis and 1 other person like this. -

my Yoga was a preview unit, which for some reason did not have a pen included and the silo is also blocked off (even though the pen works and I did ask for a Yoga with pen), so don't have the actual pen that comes with the Yoga. That need to be sent out separately.
I got the i7. Here is the quick run down of the spec

@tmb15,
you probably have to cancel order and then re-order it through the student portal. -

I just got back from playing with the ThinkPad Yoga at my local Fry's (Renton WA), and damn it was hard not bringing that home, it is one nice piece of hardware. They have the FHD i5 with 4gb ram and 128gb ssd for $1199, and the i7 with 8gb ram and 256gb ssd for $1399.

lead_org, thanks for the info regarding digitizer performance around the edges. How's the responsiveness? How noticeable is the gap between the point where you draw on the screen and the point where the digital ink shows up? (For example, Microsoft likes to brag about the optically bonded screen on the Surface which makes this distance almost imperceptible). Sorry for the incessant questions about the digitizer, but the TP Yoga is going to be my first entry in the digitizer game.
I can believe that the FHD display is nice. When I had the Yoga 2 Pro, I also found 1920x1080 with 125% scaling to be the sweet spot because the full 3200x1800 just made legacy desktop applications look too bad (to say nothing of the yellow issue and the sub-par font scaling in Windows 8.1). The Yoga 2 Pro was a in' machine, to be sure, but I'm hoping the TP Yoga shores up all the nitpicks I had with it.
Didn't know there was a Fry's in Renton. Guess I'll go take a peek at the hardwareThanks for the tip BorgDog.

Lead_org , thanks for all the info. Im curious though. Are you using a wacom pen on the TPY ? Also if several websites and Frys here in are showing the i7 with 8gb ram and 256gb ssd model with a FHD screen wouldnt this mean its the wacom version? Or is the Wacom one completely different? Im thinking about stopping by Fry's tomorrow to test there FHD i7 with 8gb ram and 256gb ssd model using a Microsoft Pro pen (since its wacom). Also under key specs for the Model at frys it says "FHD available with option of combined Wacom" would that mean it wacom version just have to buy the been separate? Maybe thats why yours has the pen spot blocked?
