I'm getting my Thinkpad Yoga tomorrow and I'm very excited.
However, I've been bother by some accessories choice problem:
1. Sleeve. I'd love to find a sleeve for this guy when I carry it in my larger backpacks. What are the recommendations?
Lots of Sleeves are available on amazon, but they're really thick also with lots of space inside. 12.5 is hard to find a great fit too.
2. Mouse. Bluetooth or wireless?
Occasionally I'll bring it around but normally I'd use trackpad(I don't use trackpoint) when I'm out of my dorm. However I'd still want something wireless/bluetooth. Some light gaming at dorm, nothing fancy.
Any good recommendations?
I tried a logitech anywhere MX(too heavy) and I've a Logitech M325. However the M325 has a low dpi and the scrolling wheel provides no feedback(some other ones I tried has a smooth scrolling wheel which I displike as well) and I've to use my old Asus wired mouse.
Thanks!

Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga Review - YouTube -
1. In terms of sleeves or cases, I just bought a case that fits a 13 inch laptop. Even though the screen is 12.5 inches, you'll notice that in a size comparison the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro for example which is a 13 inch laptop or the Macbook air has practically the same size. It is very easy to find 13 inch cases and it should fit the TP Yoga just fine without much extra room.
2. I still prefer wireless over bluetooth. Wireless still tracks smoother and the connection is a lot more reliable. It also consumes less battery on the computer and the mouse. There are plenty of options to choose from. I personally love the mx anywhere mouse and don't find it too heavy at all. The TP Yoga comes with 2 usb slots so you can probably afford to use at least one slot. If you buy the onelink dock, that gives you a lot more flexibility. If you want a mouse with BOTH wireless and bluetooth, then check out lenovos n700reactorcooler likes this. -
After reading a few threads it seems quite a few of you are having issues. It appears to me that Lenovo has had a very wonky launch of this product as they still arn't even displaying it on their home page, and are only offering very limited models on their website. I'll definitely be waiting until January for them to get more settled and offer more configurations. Hopefully by then most issues will have been resolved with the newer production models. Also waiting for one with NFC

Thanks big boss and Achu...blessyou. good to know. I have just encountered a problem where my screen flashed a black screen with a word I didn't catch in the top left corner, then to a "Boot Menu" with App and Menu tabs. Escape brings it back to the home screen abd Control Alt Delete made it appear as if it restarted but I was only brought back to the same boot manager screen. This is the extent of my PC help knowledge so I'm rather annoyed I cant get anywhere. Any ideas? Again, help is very appreciated.
Thanks -
Anyone in AU ordered and can post some ESD and EDD's please? Having some grief with Lenovo AU not responding to emails, stupid ESD & EDD's considering order times (considering we were the first country who started selling it)... needing some firepower.... anyone?

gamingperformance: I just tried battlefield 3, got around 12 to 17 fps for low graphic setting

Yeah -but then again people are more likely to go posting on an online forum if they do find an issue (than if they don't) and so you may not be getting an entirely balanced view of this product...

OneLink Pro dock now available to order in the US.

I used AIDA64 Extreme to get this information... there are similar programs that are freeware as well. Will you post your ID too?

Now this is odd!
Just now I have received an email stating that my estimated shipment date has been delayed to the 31st December ... the only problem is I received a shipment confirmation and UPS tracking number yesterday!
Just rang up customer support and they advised me to ignore this email because my TPY had indeed shipped, and is due to arrive on Tuesday. I wonder what is going on?? -
The lenovo website seems to have very little info on the onelink pro dock... what's the advantage of the 'Pro' over the basic onelink? Just a couple of extra ports?

Mine just got shipped too. It's in Shanghai now. I ordered it on 11/22, should receive it on wednesday 12/18 in France ;-)
-
Sweden here. Thought I'd let you know that my Thinkpad has been shipped.
Ordered on 29th November. First I heard from Lenovo was yesterday telling me the order has been dispatched with UPS. Delivery date is 18th. -
I have to laugh a bit.. Lenovo Canada has changed their sales at least 6 times since the TPY has come out (Black Friday week they were changing it every couple of days). Every model they sell has been on sale at least once.. except for the friggin TPY
Lenovo Canada marketers have made me expect that paying full price for one of their machines is idiotic due to the fact they always have a sale on (every Thursday without fail a sale begins... just the % off changes).
So here I sit.. waiting.. and waiting
Your move Lenovo.

It uses the one link connector vs. usb 3, better video capability with, I believe, less cpu impact, one wire connect that includes charging, and additional ports. There's a link to a youtube video earlier in the thread that gives a decent overview.

Thanks, it might have been said several times, maybe it's only for me but when I tried to search for m.2 or ssd in the thread I had almost no result.
Again, sorry it if's already been asked but I was considering a few solutions :
- Replacing the m.2 ssd with a larger one, install windows on it and keep the regulard hard disk for data
- Keep the m.2 ssd and put an hybrid hard disk like seagate momentus
- keep the m.2 and put an ssd. For that point, and more generally, how is the cache handled ? Within the intel software ? If yes, how will it share cache between 2 ssd ?
And also, I decide to install ubuntu, will the ssd cache be handled ?
Many thanks
Good
Still waiting for mine, are you in Paris ? we could compare it when received !

I am in Canada too. If you keep waiting for the website to change and have a sale on this model, you will have to wait for a long time. I got over the us chat line (because they handle canada too
), saved the model I wanted in my card and spoke to them. With difficulty I managed to get 15% discount, but it should be very easy to get atleast 12%
I hope this helps.

suggestions anyone? I have NO idea what to do
-
Possibly the same issue I'm having. It went to a boot screen and I'm stuck there. Will I have to reset everything?
-
I received the same email as well!
Even mine's due to arrive on Tuesday. -
I think their system responsible for sending those emails is lagging behind. I got that email about 3 days after my laptop was delayed on the order detail page.
-
^^^ Just follow the UPS tracking information update and keep an eye on it. They are masters at messing things up. Mine they left it at their depot and made me wait from 9 AM to 9 PM... After a long process of talking to them on the phone and with Lenovo, they had it delivered first thing in the morning (I must have spent over 2 hours on it)...
-
Mine got shipped yesterday aswell, being in the "Ready for UPS" status until today. Now I have an estimated delivery date of tuesday. I also received a delay notification.

Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
Can u take a pic of the screen? I don't actually have a thinkpad yoga. Push comes to shove, on all devices if you hold the power key for 10 to 20 seconds that'll do a hardware shutdown. See if that helps. If you are unable to boot into windows at all then it's most likely a hardware issue with the ssd.
Does anyone know what ssd lenovo ships with this laptop? (Has anyone opened it up and taken a look?) -
Was the digitizer working before you tried the clean install? I don't know what to tell you about returning it.
I was wondering if that screen protector was removable. When you say you damaged the corners trying to remove it, do you mean the foil is damaged, or the screen underneath it? I'm not sure I like the anti-glare and was thinking about trying to take it off too. -
I have been watching mine like a hawk. It appears to have left Shanghai a couple of hours ago, hopefully it will be in the US later tonight.
-
Nope the digitizer didnt worked at all. And it seems that i cant install the firmware without a previous version of it :S
I damaged the corners from the foil because its really hard to take it off. I dont like the touch"feeling" from that foil (pure gorilla glass feels softer) -
Mine was simply stuck on the black screen upon lifting the lid to wake the laptop up. It looks like a hard hang but it's hard to tell with an SSD, the computer may in fact be operating with the screen off. I was forced to do a hard reset using the power key both times. There are no errors/events in the event log beyond the kernal/power hard reset.
I reflashed the BIOS with the Nov 28 update on the Lenovo support page. I also updated the graphics driver to the latest version. The problem has not reoccured (yet) which is encouraging but I'm not holding my breath. This really is a very slick computer.. when it's working.
If you Google this error, it appears like a commonplace problem with 8.1, for example:
Laptops Do Not Wake from Sleep After Windows 8.1 Update
Like most any computer I've purchased, this one required many updates out of the box. Perhaps it had been manufactured a while ago and the factory image is aged. I've now methodocally gone through and applied all of the Windows updates, the BIOS flash and installed pretty much everything on the Lenovo driver support page (including a couple of registry patches). Have people found newer drivers from the manufacturers of the various components? If the problem persists (crossing fingers), that may be my next step.
One other note: out of the box, the auto-brightness on this screen is very aggressive and changes the screen brightness frequently and dramatically seemingly for no reason. One of the registry patches is for this issue and it seemed to resolve the problem. I still defeated the setting in power management. -
Bearing in mind I'm in Sweden - I wouldn't bank on that - mine left Shanghai - then went to south korea - and then Germany, then Kazaghstan... who knows where it will go next?
-
mine just got checked in louisville, ky. It should be delivered to lexington sometime tomorrow. Woohoo
Too bad I have to wait unitl christmas to open it, hehehe. -
The advantage of the 'Pro' over the basic onelink is that it has 2 additional USB 3.0 ports and also has a DVI port, and I believe it comes with a DVI-VGA adapter in the box. This allows you to use another display at the same time, in addition to using the HDMI port.

exactly the same:

And if you open it at Christmas time and you see something wrong with it, goodbye return policy

Experienced any problems so far? You may switch to a grey background and choose the automatically hide taskbar option. if your device is affected at least then it has to be visible as usually the taskbar is always displayed.
-
I opened the box and my first impression is not very good. What happened to our beloved Thinkpad Brand! What happened?!
Build quality is very mediocre. I now really missed the Macbook Pro 2013 that came out of box with absolutely NOTHING to complain about.
the first thing before i even turn on is a flex on top 1/4 place of left edge of the screen. screen bleeds when press that point. It sounds when press. The annoyance gain when I realized that's exactly the position my left hand move the screen. Then there's 1 Dead pixel at center part of the screen.(Those things happen so it's not too big a deal here). Then there's 1 flex on lower left edge when it's sitting. That's really strange.
Hinge flex is of a level of my 7 year Dell.
Regarding the PWM flickering by design, it's pretty bad. I cannot see it, but I can indeed feel it. I eye somehow feel bad in any brightness level lower than 80%- now I think it's the PWM filckring. My iPhone camera definitely showed it, the screen failed the pencil test: refresh rate level is of an old CRT.
Image retention: I've not noticed any of those.
Have you guys experienced any of those?
The good part is the sceeen is beautiful at high brightness. Touchpad is definitively the best I've ever used. i7-8G is sleek and fast. Very well designed machine. Wish more keyboard travel. -
Looks like it went to Alaska, so it should end up somewhere in the midwest US its next hop, then by truck to me.

Cannot see any ghosting at all... not even at the taskbar.
I'm having the device for 5 days now. -
Neither here. I especially tried to recreate the problem but there is just no ghosting.
The low frequency PWM really bites my eyes. -
I really don't perceive the low frequency of the display... Maybe my eyes are too bad? ;-)

I asked for a 15% off for a customized Thinkpad Yoga today from a Lenovo Online Chat Rep, but got declined. I will not buy this until there's a 15% off.
-
my ship date just changes again! started 12/3 then 12/9 then 12/11 then 12/13 and now 12/17 with a delivery of 12/24. Of course I won't be home and will have to get the address changed which I can't do until it ships. This is really frustrating and I feel like canceling my order
-
I do not perceive it. But this screen feels much more unnatural than the others I have. Especially at mid-low brightness. However, I have no problem with other screens I have at all brightness levels.
The screen does feel very strange to look at. -

I ordered my TPY 11/20 and finally received it today! It's still too early for me to do a review, but impressions so far... it boots super quick. There are no noticeable physical defects. I do not have the "blackhole" issue when I tested the digitizer with OneNote.
And lastly... so far I'm not a fan of Windows 8. I hope it can grow on me. -
I just got my TPY today. I am from the US. Let me know if there are any particular questions you want answered.
Battery life turned out to be better than I thought. I am running an i5/256gb Samsung SSD/dual band ac wifi/4GB ram/digitizer model
I left wifi on and with just browsing and messing around with one note...I wish I had this a lot sooner for my Calculus class...I can easily get 5+ hours at approx 50% power. Since I just got it today, I will need more time to test the battery. Tomorrow is my last days of finals.
No wifi drops.
The construction is excellent and I haven't had any issues with the ghosting. Also, I don't have the black hole issue.
Honestly if you plan to use the digitizer a lot you will probably want another pen.
More info to come later. -
It does
Just after a couple of days I got used to it, and actually used the touchscreen to navigate faster. Looked at a couple of YouTube videos, to get some neat tricks which made my life with W8 simpler.
-
When did you order? I'm based in Stockholm and ordered 29th. I got really excited to see it's in Germany. Usually that means i'll get it the next day, but now i'm anticipating it to go to Kazakhstan as well..
