I'd just like to put it out there that I recently received a unit, but it's non-working. Booting it brings it to a black screen, backlight comes on, but that's it. The indicators flash and everything, but there are no beeps. Removing the RAM, you do get the DIMM error beep sequence typical from a Thinkpad, and again, the power indicators and all that flash, and the Hard Drive indicator flashes after awhile, leading me away from the hypothesis of a failed BIOS flash. so I've ordered a Quadro 2700M, to see if replacing the video card will make any difference. If not, i'll have to see if I can source a good system board to remedy the unit. I really want to get it working, because I think the W700, despite being a Lenovo, is just a bonkers 18" slab of business-rugged supremity. The one I got even has the Wacom digitizer pad, so I can sketch on it.

I'm pretty sure I can work out the problem with mine eventually... but I bring this up because i'd like other's opinions on the W700, and maybe someone's experience with one?

Yes, I do know about the W700ds. Those things are absolutely crazy, and I don't see myself with any one of those anytime soon... they're crazy rare.
