    Hi

I currently live in Australia and I wish to buy a laptop, but all the laptops over here are overpriced. So I was wondering if the US IBM website will ship a laptop over here if I buy one? Also do they have international warranties? If so, if its crashes out on me over here do I have to send it back to the US or can I have it repaired by IBM over here?

And 1 other thing are all the sockets the same? Ie headphones etc. Because I know I will have to buy a new power adapter over here.

Lenovo USA will not ship to Australia. Your best bet would be to find a US shop which ships internationally or maybe buy it off eBay.

There are international warranties available, however they are not common amongst US purchases. My ThinkPad X61 was bought in Thailand and included a 3-year international warranty.

To be honest your remaining questions don't quite make sense to me, but I'll try and answer them anyway.

If you do obtain an international warranty, you can have it repaired in any country in the world where Lenovo offers support for their products. You do not have to send it back to the original country of purchase to have it repaired. If that was the case, then it would not be international warranty.

As for sockets, I am yet to find a different headphone/USB/VGA/Modem/LAN/etc. socket anywhere in the world on a ThinkPad, let alone a notebook. There is one standard - that is it. You might find the occasional different headphone socket on commercial flights (with 2 or 3 pins) and the larger plug for i.e. stereos, but that is about it. If connection sockets were different from country to country it would make life very difficult for consumers.

The power adapter/Power plug is the only thing which may differ. You don't necessarily have to change it. You can get a USA-to-AUS power plug adapter instead. A bit more bulky, but much cheaper. I always travel with an universal adapter which comes in handy as I travel internationally a lot.

I believe the P models do have international coverage, but I'm not 100% certain. Those are more expensive. eBay is another option if you can find a seller who's willing to ship overseas.

Many of the T CTO models have international warranties. Depends on which country.

Er I dont know how you define international warranty but to me it means the machine can be serviced in a foreign country. I am a frequent traveler and after looking it up myself it has a warrranty for certain countries. Check you own. You might be surprised.

Yes, I noticed that too. Some (maybe even all T61P/T61s) CTOs have international warranty. If they can't fix it I bet they'll send it to US.
