I just got a Thinkpad x61 off ebay and wonder if I can upgrade the ram to 4gb. But from what I have read, this model only supports up to 3gb max. Is it true? Anything else I can upgrade on this thinkpad besides ram, hd and battery?
This is my spec:
Intel T7300 Processor 2.0GHz
3 gb DDR2 667MHz RAM
Motherboard Type lenovo 767374U
Intel 965 Express Chipset
8 Cell Battery

Here it says it can take up to 4GB, but you would have to be running a 64-bit version of Windows to be able to utilize the full 4GB.
-
IIRC, it can actually support up to 8GB, but the official limit is 4GB.
You'll either need to use a 64-bit OS or a 32-bit one that supports PAE. -
AFAIK, all 61 series (T,R,X) machines can run max 8gb ram (with x64 OS ofc).

Thats actually really good news!! I already installed Win 7 64bit for ram upgrade but I read this site it says x61 767374U only take 3gb ram. Thats why Im confused. Lenovo 767374U Specifications - Thin Notebook, Notebook
I already have ASUS G73JW But I really like the Thinkpad. So if 8gb is capable, I might do that. -
Wait. How is 8gb possible if Thinkpad x61 only have two ram slots?
-
-
Yea I just read that. Thanks. Is the processor soldered on or upgradable?
-
Soldered on all X-series.
