With current deals, T420 on Lenovo USA costs half than the similar model in UK (uk models get 3year warranty, cheaper upgrades, none of which i care about).

Borderlinx has terrible reviews and i don't want to use them.

I would appreciate if anyone knows any alternative ways to buy on Lenovo USA website and ship it via some proxy company to UK. thanks.

I don't know of any companies that do so (when I lived in the UK, I flew to/from the US often enough that I never had reason to use one), but I'm sure there are plenty of forum members here and on ThinkPads.com that would be able to help.

... assuming, of course, you plan on paying VAT. If not, you might find it hard to find someone to help you dodge the duty, given that it's illegal to do so.

I was curious about this so just gave Lenovo US a call over Skype and the rep said that they will not ship to any mail forwarding companies (inc. myUS), military bases, etc - and it has to be a US residence or business.

Also payment can only be accepted on a US Visa/Mastercard (which I don't have), or an American Express card (which I do have).

He said to try some of the Lenovo resellers who I might have better luck with.

I strongly suspect he is just saying this, because this is the official line.

If you want to order with a non-US card and send it to a mail forwarding company that is not extremely obvious, the system allows you to do so.

I used hopshopgo.com (backed by PayPal) to buy my T420 ($908 CTO + 10% coupon) from Lenovo US and had it shipped to Sydney, Australia by DHL in only 3 days (cost 60 USD) but I avoided paying GST. All together, it cost me only $968 for the T420. Here in Australia, Lenovo rips us off by selling T420 starting from 1999 USD.

I am wondered if the address on your paypal account is Australian address or USA address? I tried to use paypal ( by hopshopgo) to buy thinkpad from US lenovo but they rejected it. The address on my Paypal profile is UK address. So when I paid for it I had to add hopshopgo US address as a "shipping address". Not sure if this is why paypal denied to pay for it because I added shipping address which is in different country as my profile address. Please help. I need to buy laptop from US website too as you know the price on US website is like a half compare with buying from UK lenovo.
