    Hi,

After some advice on this forum (for which I'm thankful), I have decided to buy a Lenovo W500 (T9600, 200GB7.2, 4GB, Full HD). Let's say, almost decided :)

My question: is there already any news on Lenovo updating the W500 series in the near future? Or am I safe with this system for some time?

    Thanks again.

There most likely (I'm 90% sure) won't be any updates to the W500 until the new Intel platform is released around Q3 to Q4 this year. In any case, your system configuration will be quite future-proof for a while :)

I'll let others speculate on updates in the near future; however, if you need the hardware now and it's good enough for your needs - go for it. Technology is always moving so if your main concern is to be bleeding edge, you and your wallet are never going to be happy.

only thing that holds me back from buying a w500 / t500 is the screen. after all the years staring at my dull wuxga laptop screen, i'm sick and tired of it.

i strongly hope that the next update will finally bring bright and good hi res screens

That did bum me out when I recently configured my T500. Oh well, I'm sure it'll be plenty bright for me.

You mean it's still bright enough?

The WSXGA+ screen on the T500 is quite nice. It's rated at 200 nits, up from 150 from the older Thinkpads.
