I may consider a w530 if it is worth the money to splurge on it over the w520.

Well, hopefully you were the one who got that W520...

I was not, but how does it fare? Those are the specs I have been eyeballing for the current budget I am in. I'd like to keep it under 700. Will a newer T series fare well in this situation? Is it worth it to go to the *30 or *40 series?

Less ram, but may be upgradeable. Also has 1080p, but no ded GPU (don't think I really need it for photoshop?)

I'm not a photoshop user but if what you are doing is cpu or gpu dependent I'd avoid the s1 yoga. I also had one the i7 dual core low voltage was slower than my 2540m on my t420.
The s1 yoga and w520/w530 are entirely different realms in terms of form factor, performance, ports, ergonomics.
The w530 is ok, no real performance increase on the w520, w530 has worse keyboard, has a battery chip and has no esata (people don't think much of this but if you transfer larger files esata is superior to usb 3.0).
Usually the w520 is much cheaper so price/performance of the w520 is much better. -

How does this suit? Touch screen not working, but I'm not looking for that anyway
