I think: why doesn't he include the HP 8730w in this roundup?

Dell Precicion M6400: up to 16GB of RAM, 1TB RAID storage, 100% Adobe RGB color gamut in an LED-backlit display, and high-end NVIDIA Quadro graphics.

HP EliteBook 8730w: 17-inch DreamColor display, a quad-core Intel CPU, 8GB of RAM and one of NVIDIA's 1GB Quadro FX graphics cards.

W700: 17-inch 72% Adobe RGB widescreen Display, quad-core/extreme proceccors, integrated Wacom digitizer and color calibrator, RAID 1/0, high-end NVIDIA Quadro graphics.

All three are pure monsters. Should be a matter of choice and personal preferences which on you choose. You need maximum Memory? You'll probably go with the M6400. Others might find the integrated digitizer & color calibrator shipped with the W700 usefull. And Dreamwork Studios emploees will of course go with the 8730w :) .

Dell M6400, because I think W700 is plastic, Dell is metal, more strong and solid.

First, I think you own neither and just go by the advertising they put up.
Second, FYI, Thinkpad has fiber-carbon composite plastic on the outside and magnesium alloy roll-cage inside(both the lid and chassis).

Personal opinion, depens on the screen Dell offers, if it happens to be better than the 400 nit, I'd go with the Dell. HP is fine but the keyboard is really crappy.
