Lenovo Warranties-Extended

I noticed Lenovo base warranties seem to only be 1 yr, extended warranties from them worth it-provide value (esp if it exceeds > 10% of price)?

What's the best way to analyze their value?

 

I can 100% tell lenovo warranty is one of the best provider in the world!
And it's also very cheap!
Take a look some other brands' warranty price, they are more expensive.

Their technicians are pros, but I did talk with some Indian tech 2 years ago. After that, I only deal with American tech( since my English is very bad, Indian english is extreme hard for me to understand)

They just ask you a few questions, you don't need to run lots of stupid tests which dell always ask you to do . ( even you explain you have high tech level)

 

They do seem reasonably priced & Atlanta based I believe. If I intend to want it past 1 yr & warranty is reasonably priced I will have to perhaps consider it a yearly cost basis, still not sure if I should get it though as most hardware issue besides HD present in year 1 right?

 

If laptop cost less than $700 after ecoupons, extended warranty over $100 worth it?

 

Do you have an Amex or Visa card that has warranty additions? You could get 2 years with lenovo and have the additional extension through Amex or Visa.

 

Yeah I have a VISA & AMEX, so the 2 years would be free & still through Lenovo, really? do I need to confirm this with Lenovo or CCs before an online order?

 

No, sorry...let me explain it better. You normally have a "free" doubled warranty up to an additional year with those credit cards. You would need to confirm with your credit card company that your specific card has that warranty protection. Usually they say up to another year max. But you would be purchasing 2 years with lenovo and essentially be covered by your credit card company for a 3rd year. You would deal with them for the warranty services. I have heard good things about the warranties through Credit cards. Sometimes they use their own tech (outsourced) or sometimes they will just have you use lenovo.

 

I'll check with CC company & Lenovo but if it is indeed through Lenovo, it would be great.

The base Lenovo warranty is 1 yr so it would be doubled to 2 yrs at no cost then, but still want to make sure it would still be through Lenovo.

 

I am saying that your credit card adds an additional year of sorts of protection. If you have issues past the lenovo warranty you talk to your credit card company for help.

You could leave the 1 year stock warranty with lenovo and have an additional year from the credit card company though (I think you were asking that?). The warranty services would be at the credit company's discretion after that 1 year of coverage with lenovo.

I recommend 3 year warranties though, so I would purchase 2 years with lenovo and have the credit card cover a 3rd.

 

Hmm, will check with CC & Lenovo but you make a good point worth investigating as I have heard double warranty benefits but never thought they could still possibly be through Lenovo or OM.

If still through Lenovo, not worth paying extra if already covered through CC purchase benefits..

 

There is not really a guarantee to say if the credit card's warranty coverage would be through lenovo at all. Sometimes you just send it to their tech of choice and they get it fixed. Sometimes they replace a whole laptop if they deem it not worth to try and fix it. Regardless I have heard good things so I don't think you need to worry.

 

My VISA card will extend the warranty a maximum of 1 year, but not the purchased warranty. So if Lenovo gives a 1 year warranty, I would get an additional year with the credit card for a total of two years. If I purchased a 3 year warranty, I would get nothing from the VISA card.

My American Express card will ADD one year to the warranty, up to 5 years. So if I purchased a 3 year warranty AE would add one year for a total of 4.

Now VISA has credit cards that will do the same as American Express, it simply depends what plan your credit card has.

Yes, but if there is a sale going on there isn't any special pricing usually when you add it after the fact.

 

Yes, but you can only add the Accident Protection within 30 days of purchase.
