I have a X61T Sxga+ that has the 3 year warranty. My warranty is set to expire in a couple months. I have been looking at upgrading my warranty to the 3 year on site. Will this add an additional 3 years to my warranty? Or will it just upgrade my current warranty to on site? I am hoping this will give me 6 years of cumulative warranty service?.... Please advise

I think there is a maximum warranty coverage of 5 years? You would have to check. I am sure you can check the warranty look up on lenovo's site and read up on the terms possible. But just give lenovo a call and see what they can do.

i think the best you can do for warranty is 5 years in total. You need the 5 year option. You already have a three year warranty so you can't get another three year warranty.

I went to warranty lookup and then warranty upgrades and the only one available was 3 year on site.....Safe to assume that this would just upgrade my current warranty to an onsite one and expire at the same time? -

I had a 3-yr factory warranty that expired on January 26th 2010. I purchased a 3-year extended warranty on Lenovo's website in the first week of January 2010. Warranty lookup says my warranty has expired; however every Lenovo operator I have spoken to says their system shows warranty expiring on January 26th 2013 (thats a total of 6 years of warranty on my T60).
I had my systemboard replaced with onsite warranty on January 28th 2010. So it works! -
i think rather than wasting your time and money, you should call Lenovo customer support and ascertain what sort of warranty upgrade option is open to you.

Lenovo is pretty bad at updating the warranty status on the website sometimes...
I am surprised mtneer was able to get a 6 year warranty in total. I imagine lenovo would want to stop supporting a machine after 5 years or so due to supply chain reasons and the associated costs. -
Lenovo have started offering after warranty system support, so 5+ warranty is a possibility.

Yes, here is my experience when I called Lenovo sales regarding this matter. The CSR said that it would take nearly a month for the web based lookup system to reflect the new extended warranty. I asked her to attach a note mentioning the extended warranty (with customer #, order# and date) to my laptop's serial number file.
Last week, when I did call support for a system board replacement, they could see my extended warranty right away. No hiccups anywhere. -
How much did it cost? And what warranty did you get? I'm debating extending my warranty with their complete care.

There was only one option - 3 year onsite; for $119.

That's terribly inexpensive?

Indeed. I wonder if it varies from model to model. I'll be calling their support line tomorrow as my base warranty is up on the 7th.
