Hi, although I live in Canada, I'm sure the warranty works the same way as US. Anyway, the standard 3 year warranty for thinkpads, how do they work?
Say for example, if it breaks down, what procedures do I take to get it fixed?
I am guessing it's return to depot, but how does the process work?
THanks

You call them up, they diagnose it for you, and if it needs fixing, then will send you a pre-paid box in which you put your laptop in then drop off to be shipped. Then you wait.
-
Unless of course its something that is deemed "user-replaceable" like a CD drive or memory. A lot of times they'll just ship it to you and you ship the defective part back to them.

Ah nice... Lenovo rep just told me there are several depots in my city, so I don't have to mail it to them... cool I guess?

Nice, lucky man to live in the same city that Lenovo has its depots.

Does anyone know where to find a list of depots?

Hmmmm, the rep just kinda told me, but I guess asking a rep would be the easiest way to know.
I got a question: would I ever have to pay to get a notebook fixed while under warranty time? For example, if the LCD just suddenly breaks and I did not do anything to cause it, would the warranty process ever charge me? -
Well depends on how it breaks. If it fails internally, then they are obligated to repair it. But if it breaks because of physical damage (like dropping the notebook, or something falling on your screen) then your warranty will not cover it.
So as long as you didn't cause the damage, they are legally obligated to repair it.
