I have been switching back and forth between Vista and Win 7 on my x200. Having troubleshooted through most of my problems in the past day, I've decided to stick with Win 7. However, I've looked across the web and can't seem to find a solution with respect to the Lenovo desktop gadgets.
My understanding is that by installing the latest version of the power manager and access connections, I should have access to the gadgets. However, I have tried to reinstall both applications a couple of times, but the gadgets simply aren't appearing.
I was wondering whether anyone else came across the issue or knows how I can go about resolving it?
Edit: Would someone be able to tell me what the Power Manager or Access Connections Gadget file in their Windows Sidebar folder contains? I tried copying the Gadget folder from the Lenovo download across, but that didn't work.

Anyone? I can't seem to get the gadgets back. The gadgets are obviously included in the latest downloads from Lenovo as I can see the files, but they don't seem to be installing for some reason.
I've tried reinstalling Windows 7 a couple of times as well, but that hasn't made a difference even when I formatted the drive. With that said, it seems like some files are retained even when I format the drive as my fingerprints are still there as soon as I install the software. I might try formatting with DBAN. -
I can't be of much help because I'm running XP, but when I did have Vista running I just installed power manager and when I went to add gadgets to the sidebar, the power meter was there. Is it the same in Seven?
Did you install the files? The file from Lenovo does not run the setup program, it only unzips it. You have to go into C:\Drivers to run the setup file. -
Thank you anyway, as any response is better than none! In response to your question, yes it is the same with Seven - the power meter and the access connections should be there after the installation.
I did install the files, in fact I've tried installing/uninstalling on a few occasions. I know that it should work since the first time I installed Seven and installed the programs/drivers, the gadgets were there. After one of my subsequent installs both of the gadgets no longer appeared. I suspect it is an idiosyncrasy to my laptop, as something seems to be preventing the installation of the gadgets. The power meter and access connections program does install because it is available on my task bar, just the gadgets won't. I can tell that the gadgets aren't installing as they aren't in my Shared Gadgets Folder within Program Files -> Windows Sidebar -> Shared Gadgets.
I think I will just run DBAN and hopefully that would wipe out anything that is causing a conflict. However, before I do so can I confirm that the Lenovo Recovery should only take up 3 DVDs? I'm asking because when I tried a restore, it seemed like I only had 1/3 of the required discs seeing as I didn't have disc for the OS or Supplementary recovery that was asked for.
Thank you again for the input. -
DBAN is excessive...
I just have power manager installed and it shows the battery meter. I mean even if you are having a few issues right now they should be cleared up with the launch and new updates. -
I realise DBAN is a bit excessive, but it seems like something is conflicting with part of my installation and I haven't found a solution anywhere.
I think so far I have reinstalled Windows 7 RTM four or five times trying to resolve various issues - initially the unidentified network due to Bonjour (before I troubledshooted) and then with the gadgets.
I'm not sure if the issue will be resolved after launch, considering no one else seems to be having the same issue. I went through the entire Windows 7 thread (albeit with ctrl + f) and didn't find anything similar.
Edit: I managed to get the gadgets back by copying the folders from another x200 running Vista and putting their gadget folders into mine - oddly enough, when I first tried this it didn't work.
