I know some of you are going to say this is an unfair comparison or something along those lines, but please listen to my scenario
I want a laptop mainly for home use, it's essentially going to be a desktop replacement. I will also be needing it to go back and forth to the library every day, as I am studying for a standardized exam.
I want a laptop that excellent build quality, a very good screen (I will be watching a tonne of movies/shows), a solid trackpad/keyboard and something that is relatively powerful.
Now some of you will say that the Sony Z is much more expensive than the X1 Carbon. I have a Sony MasterCard that I've accumulated about $600 of sony points that I can use toward this laptop, essentially making the Sony Vaio Z and the X1 Carbon in the same price range.
Which laptop would you guys choose if you were in my position, or please suggest another laptop that you guys think fits my needs better. I am living in Canada, and would love to know where I can receive discounts on sony laptops as well if possible.
Thanks.

Did you start a similar thread two days ago?
You mentioned: desktop replacement, weight not a huge criterion, good build quality, good battery life, very nice screen (likely FHD).
I don't think either X1 Carbon or the Vaio Z fits your criteria, though. In any event, I strongly suggest you post your question at the What Notebook Should I Buy forum (and fill out a form to detail what you need). -
I did, but I realized I do want a lighter laptop, as it will be beneficial taking it from place to place. Why not get power and portability at the same time right? This time I'm comparing the Carbon the Sony Vaio Z and seeing what the consensus is. Thanks though I will fill that out.

You definitely should post at the What Notebook Should I Buy forum. The form-filling forces you to be clear with your requirements.

May I ask Kaso, do you own the T530?

^^^ I own a number of notebooks by Lenovo and others. Why?
