    Hi,

Apologies if this is the wrong forum as I'm a new member, but would really appreciate some feedback on the x121e.

    x121e

I'm thinking of buying one as I want it for my journey to and from work as I catch the train everyday and want something small enough that is portable and has excellent battery life. I will be using it to watch TV programs direct from the HD as I know it has no optical drive, creative writing (as I'm trying to write a novel!), some general admin work for my business, e.g. email, expense accounting etc, surfing the net of course and hopefully taking it fishing with me and using mobile broadband to watch football streams. I won't be using it to play games or storing/editing photos etc or anything heavy duty.

So most important things to me are portability, battery life and ability to take the odd knock etc I guess. Also don't want something that falls over when I stick a video on.

Can anyone give me their thoughts, negative or positive on this, or suggest alternatives? I'm not a complete technophobe and have an OK understanding, but I'm certainly no techy so please be gentle! Would also be interested in peoples thoughts as to if shelling out the extra £150-£200 quid for the improved battery life and memory is worth it.

Thanks in advance for all your comments

You're not seeing a lot posted on it here because the x121e has not been available in the US. I will say this, my daughter has a Samsung 11.5" notebook with the ULV I3 SB CPU and a matt display much like the Lenovo. She loves it and it performs quite well.

Have you seen the X130e with Intel processor? It's built more durably than the X121e, though it is heavier because of the extra "armor". Lenovo set the X120 to end of life, I'm assuming the X121 will meet the same fate soon and never see the light of day in the U.S.

You can refer to my owner's lounge for more information about the x130e. I own it, and from my understanding it is very similar to the x121e, apart from the build quality. It is an excellent laptop, very portable.

The keyboard is full-sized, excellent for writing a novel and for people with big hands like me. I get 6-8 hours of battery life and can stream HD content with no stutter or slow-down. Keep in mind I have the AMD e-450 APU, not the Intel chip.

If you can, I strongly recommend going the AMD route.
