I am thinking of getting one as my knock around computer... Has anyone gotten it yet?... thoughts?
-
I don't think they've shipped yet. Before I got my x120e last week I was considering getting one and the estimated ship date from Lenovo was 13th I believe. I guess you're going to have to wait a couple weeks before people start posting videos on youtube, etc.
Early reviews are favorable. I personally think that he x130e with the i3 seems like a really nicely balanced product and a good buy if you need some extra snort. The E450 option doesn't seem worth it unless you absolutely need the improved durability over the x120e w/E350. At least that's what I decided. -
I just got mine yesterday, haven't had much of a chance to play with it, but the first thing that struck me upon opening was how much more rugged it is than the X120e, the lid protection is crazy. I'm sure you could stand on it, drop it, hit it with a baseball bat and the screen wouldn't crack. I guess since the target is schools they knew the kind of abuse kids would hand out. Attached is a picture, I'll post more thoughts next week.

I have an Edge E120 with the i3, which appears to be almost identical (except for the rugged screen and i3 2357 instead of 2367) and I absolutely love it. As long as they keep the price decent, I think this will be a real hit for Lenovo.

Thinking of ordering mine this week. Quick question: is the RAM upgrade-able after purchase? Can you get to the DIMM slots?
-
-
Correct, just a matter of removing the bottom panel. I will note there is no mSATA SSD upgrade possible, I was hoping for that but the mini PCIe doesn't have the right electrical connections to support it.
-
Wow, the X130e looks like a tough shell to crack o.o
@jlindync: RAM (and the HDD) are easily user-replaceable, so you shouldn't have any problems upgrading. -
thanks all! Ordered it! good deal with the 10% discount through tomorrow and free shipping.
-
+1
this one is in first place on shortlist to replace my x120e - which I love btw
-
Been debating getting one myself -- but I really want something with an SSD in it. I think the option is there on the x120e but it hasn't got the nicer processor, bah.
-
Mh, I've been considering this computer, but it seems about one pound too heavy. I know it's because of how rugged it is, but I'm having a hard time getting past that.
Does anybody know what size a power adapter does it come with? -

X130e is an acquired taste.

Mine has been shipped.. should arrive from China sometime later this week. Here's the new question: I'm going to need some kind of external optical drive, hopefully from BestBuy down the street. Suggestions? Just basically need to load the programs I have on disc... etc.
Thanks in advance. -
I signed up on Lenovo, and i want to buy the X130e today, but i have not seen any 10% discount message or option..
I will appreciate your help.
Regards. -
google search on lenovo coupon gave me a lenovo site that gave a coupon valid through 2/15. they might still be rotating a new offer. I think the code last week was THINKALL.

Unless you plan to use it constantly (which I doubt, since you're getting a netbook), don't bother paying more than you have to. -
Thanks for the response and info ThinkRob.
Question for you. In your opinion, what makes a netbook a netbook? OS? Processor? Keyboard size? Screen size? Price? Some combo of those? -
If you ask me, I think what makes a "netbook" is the CPU, be it an Atom or a C- or E-series AMD. However, some really cheap 15.6" laptops use the E-350 and similar processors.
Netbooks are just small laptops. The term "netbook" is pretty much pure marketing if you ask me. -
So...
i3 - 2367M
8 GB DDR3
11.6 screen at 1366x678
Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Bluetooth
Full size keyboard
6 cell battery
b/g/n WiFi
netbook or no?
Opinions? -
it is not a netbook.
The performance of the machine is okay for school and office based work. You will also get an extended battery time with this setup. -
My daughter has an I3-2357M in her Samsung 11.6" Princeton Notebook. It is plenty powerful for such a highly portable notebook.
Much like my old Acer 1410T (SU2300), it is so small and light that it doesn't mind being called a netbook, as long as the term is not pejorative. -
Just got mine yesterday. Extremely well built.. Lenovo did a really fantastic job addressing all the issues with the 120e. The battery doesn't stick out, the trackpad is much improved, and the body of the laptop has been reinforced with titanium. (just kidding)
I installed Half-Life 2 on it.. ran smoothly at 25-30 FPS on high settings... I'm currently downloading Fallout: NV. If any of you are interested I'll update you on how it runs. -
I wonder if it could run battlefield 3 at lowest settings...
-
With the Intel CPU, I'd also guess results will be similar. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
I mean it'll probably launch and run...but sub 20 fps is unplayable realistically. Even my current Alienware has lag on 1680x1050 on medium/high.
