    I have been doing some pricing on Lenovo thinkpad X220 and for the life of me can't find any X220 Topseller codes that include the IPS display.

    I can find plenty of them for the x220t and the pricing is quite reasonable. I dont really need or desire a tablet.

    Can anyone in the know tell me what the outdoor screen actual means. Does that mean the screen is not a touch/pen screen?

    The outdoor display does not support multitouch (no touch). Digitizer only. The outdoor display on the X201T was 400 nits bright and had a 500-1 contrast ratio. For some reason, I think the new one is 350 nits but don't quote me on that.

    Yeah its kind of ridiculous. A x220 tablet with IPS is less expensive than x220 simply because the tablet has a topseller code.

    I should also add that I use linux and I have not assessed the tablet compatibility yet.

    Or all of them ;)

    Outdoor: 12.5" (317.5mm) HD (1366x768) TFT color, anti-glare, LED backlight, 300 nits, 16:9 aspect ratio, 500:1 contrast ratio, 1.2% reflectivity, multiple anti-reflectivity layers, IPS, Scratch Resistant Gorilla Glass Display

    MultiTouch: 12.5" (317.5mm) HD (1366x768) TFT color, anti-glare, LED backlight, 300 nits, 16:9 aspect ratio, 500:1 contrast ratio, IPS, MultiTouch screen supports pen & five-finger gesture

    Outdoor = Pen and maybe a little nicer looking screen (need side by side in people's hands to confirm)

    vs

    Multi = Pen and Fingers

    is what it boils down to. Go with what you would use and best price.

    Does anybody know if both the outdoor and multi touch have the graininess issue or just the multitouch.

    Aluminium, when you get your laptop could you do me a big favour and see if ubuntu live cd/usb boots up and whether the pen and other features work?
    I only ask cause you have an N900 with linux so Im assuming your linux literate. :)

    By the time I get it 11.04 should be out, so I suspect all the sandybridge stuff will be fine. I'll probably be running linux mostly in VMs on this one though, since I want to abuse the expresscard port for a gpu dock.
