    Hello all,
I've been looking for a laptop for school & regular tasks. I hope this is the right section for general questions regarding the X220T. I'm planning on purchasing the product mentioned below. It was purchased and built on 12/13/2011 so it's been used for the last 2 and half months (by a CS student). I checked out the laptop today and it seems to be in great condition. Fresh install of Windows 7. Here are the specs :

Update: After Tsunade_Hime's advice on the Provantage sale, I counter-offered the seller a final price of $1100 to which he accepted. At this price point ($200 savings), I believe it's justifiable since, it does have a warranty until the end of the year if anything goes wrong. Please let me know if you think otherwise.

Intel 160 GB Solid State Drive, Serial ATA
8 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1600MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM) <-- Faster memory upgrade, per seller.
12.5" Multitouch HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, Mobile Broadband Ready, 3x3 Antenna
Intel Core i5-2520M Processor (3M Cache, 2.50 GHz)

    Bluetooth 3.0
    Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (3x3 AGN)
ThinkPad X220t - 1 Yr Depot Topseller Warranty
    Genuine Windows 7 Professional 64
    Fingerprint Reader

    ThinkPad Battery 52+ (6 cell)
Country Pack North America with Line cord & 65W AC adapter

Asking price is $1250. He seems to have some good hookups (in the computer industry) so I'm guess he got the laptop for a good percentage off the retail price. For a 2 and half month old laptop with the aforementioned specs, is this a good deal ? I believe it should be future proof for Windows 8 as well.

My required tasks : Programming, photo & video editing, documents, etc. Maybe light gaming occasionally.
I prefer the X220T because, of the tablet form and, also due to Windows 8 being around the corner.

Suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Anyone... X220 Tablet series. The closest item I could find is a refurbished with 4 GB at $1412 before tax.

I think I would go with the laptop Tsunade_Hime posted. For a similar price you get an extra 2 years of warranty and a webcam, though this only has a 2x2 antenna rather than a 3x3 antenna because of the camera. The only thing I cannot tell is if it is multitouch or pen only.

1600mhz ram is nice, but I think if you wanted to buy some it would only cost you around $50-60. I would go with the link Tsunade_Hime posted. Is the laptop necessary to purchase now? I have heard whispers of an X230T but it probably won't be available for a few months, so if this is necessary now I would jump on the laptop in the link.

It is Multi-Touch with Pen (I ordered this configuration). The outdoor screen is pretty hard to find, and is $$$ for no reason.

I actually like the outdoor screen more as it does not suffer from the multitouch interface graininess and dimness. The IPS on the outdoor model is very close to the x220 notebook screen. Of course, with Windows 8 around the corner, you may want a computer that has a touch interface and not just pen.

By the way, I also agree the provantage one is a better deal. You could also find pretty good discounts on ebay.

    Hey Tsunade_Hime,
Thank you very much for your help ! I sent the seller the link and offered him $1100 for the laptop. I checked the serial and the warranty is valid until the end of Dec, 2012.

I'll be have $200 in savings. I'm thinking about the making the jump. What do you guys think ? Plus, I'm at least set until the apocalypse hits us at the end of the year (a few days early... warranty ends on 12/14/12) ;-)

    Thanks again!

Well I literally scoured all the reseller sites for Outdoor Screen, and it was Tablet models over like 1900 that had Outdoor screen, which I don't think is worth it. Well I'm happy with my X220 Tablet, and I'll be sure to utilize the Multi-Touch when 8 fully comes out.
