    Hello all,

I purchased a 29+ 6-cell battery and tried using it with my X230. It says the battery installed is not supported by the system and will not charge. Do I need to do something to enable the system to charge the battery or do I need a 44+ battery. I forgot where I saw it, but I remember someone said the X220 batteries should work with X230, should have done more research

    Thanks

No, X220 batteries will not work with the X230 due to the new authentication chip (which is apparently necessary because of the new RapidCharge feature), it will only discharge. As a side note, the X230 batteries will work on the X220, however.

Thanks for the quick response. I must say the whole battery/accessories thing is pretty confusing with X220 and X230. Half the time they don't show anything for X230, then there are rumors that the X220 stuff should work fine. Buyer beware..
