hum that seems a real frustrating experience, if the entire bank network is down, especially given that people need to withdraw funds from their account on a regular basis.

Barclay should give you a free X301 for the trouble.

    Cheers!
I was having a hard time finding Lenovos in stores too. Then I stumbled on this place next to n-genius. It was full of Thinkpads. They even had the reserve edition.

Oh wow, this place is really going to be my cup of tea! Can't wait to go there now! :D

General tip is when you're going out, have at least more than 1 method of payment with you. HSBC did a 24hr security stop on my card just as I was paying for my daily groceries for no apparant reason, it was kinda embarrasing seeing a massive queue behind and you can't pay despite having the funds! Luckily I had a backup card with a different bank and that sorted it out. This happened to me at a petrol station too, not fun at all...

The best thing to do is to have cash on hand.

    Success!
I got my dirty little paws on an X301 now!
Cheers to everyone who helped me make my decision, I'm sure I won't regret it!
Haven't opened the box yet, but first thing I'll do is check the serial number in the BIOS against the one on the box. Then I've got a whole list of things to do - making restore discs, clean install of Windows 7, drivers, reinstalling a few thinkvantage programs, optimisation.
I remembering seeing a thinkpad clean install guide somewhere on these forums. Maybe I'll check it out. Anyone have any tips?

Darn, missed it; looks like the last one is gone from n-Genius too...
Do you know of any other decently priced new (or at least new old stock) X301 in UK?

    FYI,

I received a 45% off coupon in email for the X301. I don't know how many more they have left but considering I've been hearing about the EOL for months, it would seem the end is getting closer.

If you want a X301, now is probably the time to jump.

    Coupon code LA26s/oltrEB.

    50% off X301, 15% off W510/T410s.

Excellent time to pick up an X301 if you haven't already.

    That's great! Thanks LoG!K!
The problem is this code only works in US and I am in EU...
And I need to buy this through my company, so just forwarding the shipment from US to me will not do...

I need a company in US to buy an X301 and sell & ship it to my company in Slovenia, issuing an invoice for the customs. I'll pay (Lenovo price + your fee + shipping) through bank transfer to your company's bank account.

Buy in the web shop & sell it to my company in EU

I haven't tried this myself but you could try MyUS which sounds very much on what you're after. Since Lenovo US don't accept International credit cards, MyUS can shop for you with theirs then bill you later for it. You can try contact them to clarify a few things to see if this is suited for you.

Thanks Hearst555; I checked MyUS just before reading your post. They'd charge $200-300 for this if they buy it for me.
I also contacted Lenovo - they don't ship outside US, as expected.
Plus the discount code is no longer valid....
    Aaarrrggggggh!
