Hello, this is my first posting and I am getting a lot of information from here thanks to you.
I ordered with Intel 3945 wireless card. And I also purchased T61 on eBay. I received T61 today and realized that it has Intel 4965 wireless card in it. I checked that the card connected to three wires.
I read couple good things (less heat & better performance?) about Intel 4965 card and I am thinking of swaping it with Intel 3945 in X61 that I will receive this week.
The question is that X61 has 3rd wire installed even though I ordered A/B/G wireless card? or should I need to install 3rd wire myself?
Another question is what if I just connect two wires to 4965 card? I know that I am not be able to use N network feature. But can I connect B or G network without N feature?
Thank you for reading!

I've used both cards and I find that the front end of the 4965 is FAR better than the 3945. I'd never buy one of those. Having used both cards, I'd not change them. -
So are you saying that 4965 is better?
-
of course it is, you can tell that by the number. 4965 is newer version with more features.

that's good!
X61(with 3945 card) is mine and T61(with 4965) is my g/f laptop. I will swap her wireless card with mine = : ) (She just needs wireless Internet connection)
But my other question was that X61 (non 4965 card built-in) has 3rd wire installed? or Should I make one.... If I need to make one, is it easy? Thanks! -
Card replacement is covered in the manuals
