Bought this laptop from newegg a few days ago.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834318584

Of course, Lenovo ended up lowering the price of their brand new Y40-80 to $599.99 right after I bought this one (and it has better processor), so I'm even more tempted to return this one.

Graphics are working awfully on this computer. Games are somewhat laggy when they should not be at all. All drivers have been updated and updated correctly.

    Dxdiag: http://www.pastebin.ca/3063613

3dmark score is 4285, with graphics score of 6803, physics score of 1699 and combined score of 2871. maybe the processor is the bottleneck? is this a score I should expect or is it too low?

Any help is greatly appreciated. If I can't figure it out I'm going to return this and pay a bit more to get the new one.

I hate to tell you this but the AMD graphics chip in the Y40's is pretty bad. You may want to read though the many posts, but I'll save you some time... most owners are upset with the low level of performance and often return the computer within a week. The Y50's Nvidia is much stronger and unless you really need the 14 or you are on a very tight budget, most people end up getting the 15 instead.

Now, I could be wrong and maybe the games aren't running on the amd chip... you may want to verify that they are running off the dedicated graphics opposed to the integrated hd4400.

think im gonna return it. too much crap going on with this thing. I just waited 1.5 hours for windows update to do abunch of crap and now, anything that uses AMD GPU "stops working". So fed up.

I really want a 14" comp and I can't spend over $600. I'll go to the suggest a laptop forum.

I've never shipped a laptop before. I don't know how to package it or how to send it. I also filled out the return form thing on newegg and got something called an RMA.

    Silly waste of money.

For under 600 you should be able to find something with a GT840m which should run better than the Y40. Most games seem to be optimized for Nvidia better, but that is just from my personal limited experience.

As to returning it, I am not familiar with newegg's policy, I usually buy straight from the manufacturer.

Found a really nice Acer on amazon for $600. When I looked through Acer's website they redirected me to amazon.

940M, 1920x1080 and intel i5, and the cute 8gb SSHD thing.

Basically same model (but with 1366x768 resolution) is on Newegg for $500.

I'thinking the $600 one is how I wanna go.
