    Hi all,

i just bought Lenovo Y400 9454-23A. It is very nice laptop with strong built and flashy gray accent in its exterior. It came with DOS OS. I installed it with Vista Home Premium and also upgrading the RAM to become 1,5GB.

In vista everything works except : the audio, the shuttle center, and none of the Lenovo program and drivers can be installed including the power cut manager.

Aero run flawlessly and the system run stable and fast. Intel GMA950 surely can handle the graphic easily, with enough RAM. With its original RAM (512MB) the Aero is turned off and the system run slow (too much harddisk trashing based on my observation).

The screen is really nice, glossy. I prefer higher resolution but i think the default is adequate. The problem is the screen is so bright and there is no way to turned down the brightness, not even with Vista default applet in control panel. I have to wait for Vista driver from Lenovo.

The audio totally muted, and definitely need drivers and utility from Lenovo.

Its been about two months i checked in Lenovo website without any new driver release for Vista at Y400 page.

I tried anything. I tried "run as administrator" in option when run the driver package but none of it works. The driver only for XP.

Could anyone tell me whether they will release any driver for Vista or not? With the system speed and beautiful appearance (and also its ridiculous price) it is really hard to let go Vista.

    Thanks

I run on XP and also notice screen too bright. I've also have some observations on this model. Firstly, if you look carefully on the words text during internet surfing, you will notice the words are not dark enough. Meaning the words are translucent. Wonder any owner also having such problem ? Second concern is on the sound quality, seems to soft, not loud enough even though it is put to the max.

subwoofer doesn't seem to be delivering any impact. quite disappointed about it. i quite bother by the translucent display of wording. Not sure what's the problem. 1 more problem is the system recovery button is just next to the power on button, sometime will accidentally press the wrong button.

Try downloading the missing drivers from here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67131

    Good luck.

I think the text might be translucent because your brightness is so high so it's leaking into the text.
