I have a Lenovo Y410 and I am running XP professional. The screen goes dead (turns off completely, looks like the lcd display goes black) and not the laptop. It doesn't look like the laptop is getting hot either. I have to restart the laptop and screen resumes as if there was nothing wrong with the screen. This screen die off does happen very rarely. I am really frustrated with this as I would all the things I were working on. Does any body know anything like this? Any advice will be appreciated.

    TIA

Does it display externally? If it does, either it's a bad LCD or LVDS cable.

If it doesn't then likely you have a bad motherboard/RAM.
